I am Hosting a Couples Game Night and I need ideas on what type of food to serve and games to play.
Any suggestions?
Re: Couples Game Night
Welcome
What time does it start? How many couples?
I love Cranium. Apples to Apples is popular.
Our group plays Settlers of Catan; it's a little hard to learn, but it's engrosing and addictive. I can't tell you how many times DH and his cousins have stayed up til the wee hours playing and hollering at each other.

So 10 people at 8pm. I'd serve 4-6 finger foods.
Some savory options:
Spiced goldfish or homemade chex mix
Parmesan pinwheels
Onion-bacon dip
Onion loaf
Cranberry chutney & goat cheese on crackers
And sweet options:
Caramelized walnuts
Magic cookie/seven layer/hello dolly bars
Apple streusel bars
Oat-cran-white chocolate chunk cookies

No matter what games I intend to play, we always end up playing Apples to Apples. Everyone loves it. If you were going to play it, it might be cute to do some apple-themed food, even just apple slives with caramel dip or something.
Are the couples coming pop culture fans? I love playing Scene It!, but I can only play with certain friends who are also movie/TV buffs like me.
Battle of the Sexes can be fun, as can The Newlywed Game (even if everyone isn't married -- how close are the couples, though? Some of the questions can be a little embarassing. We've played with our closest couple friends, but we wouldn't play with just casual friends.)
It's a little late for dinner. I'd do heavy appetizers and some sweet items.
I also agree with Cranium and Apples to Apples. You could consider asking a few people for suggestions or to bring a game. It depends on the people.
It seems like you won't be serving a meal. I would do some finger foods if you plan on playing and eating. I agree with the spinach dip and pigs in a blanket.
We loooove Settlers! I agree that it can be hard to learn but so addictive.
Cranium, Tabboo and Apples to Apples are always fun.
We did this a few months ago and played the newlywed game. It was a riot ......I also agree with PP apples to apples.
Finger foods
I think we are the only people in the world who don't like Apples to Apples. Everyone else LOVES it. We like Taboo and, similarly, Catch Phrase.
Definitely serve snacky foods. Buffalo chicken dip is always a hit, turkey or roast beef pinwheels, antipasti platter, chips and a black bean salsa, fruit with a caramel dip and sweet and salty nuts are some that come to mind for a game night.

Sometimes I like to have smaller faster paced games that a few people can play so it doesn't take a half a hour for one turn around with a big group- and for people like me who have a short attention span!
A fun one my hubby got recently was ZOMBIE dice, easy to learn, gets really competitive, and can be played in under 10 minutes. And le` bomb! another dice game with kind of a hot potato element.
I really love Catch Phrase! It's one of our favorites! If you've never played it look it up!!!! My game night we usually do a potluck, so it's not all on one person. However, cheese balls are always a great hit with my friends. Have fun and good luck!
Definitely Apples to Apples. Catch Phrase is great too. Guesstures is fun (more competitive charades game). Make sure you have a couple decks of cards too, since there are a lot of card games out there or they can be used for drinking games as well if that it something your crowd would do.
I love game nights!
If you the group of people don't mind being silly and doing wild and crazy things, try Quelf. I have played it and its a fun game only if people are willing to do crazy things. Also a new game that I just tried is Logo which is a trivia game with name brand/commercial items.
As for food, if it's before six you would need to serve dinner. Taco bar is versatile and easy to do. After 7 you can maybe to appetizers/desserts.
Hope that helps.
If you looking for a few great games that might be new to you a few we like are

I'm also a fan of Apples to Apples.
As far as menu, I can offer my favorite (easy) recipe. Crockpot fajitas- all you do is put 1 lb raw boneless, skinless chicken breasts, 1 packet taco or fajita seasoning and 1 cup of chicken broth in a crockpot on low about 4-5 hours before serving- that all! Then all you do is shred it before serving (it falls right apart). Double or triple for a crowd, add sliced peppers and onions from the start if you want, then just serve with tortillas, cheese, chips and salsa. It's the easiest thing ever and tastes better than restaurant food. You'll get rave reviews.
