where to post job openings?

my company is looking to hire an account executive position. I'm still so new to hiring, i'm a little nervous to put the job description on a career builder or monster. It's an advertising agency - so i did post it on the local ad club job boards - but i thought i would check if anybody had any other ideas? Thanks!

Re: where to post job openings?

  • Why are you nervous to put on CB or monster?

Have you considered linkedin.com? I see postings there all the time.

  • Local university have a job posting site (for alumni too)? What about doing a temp-to-hire, through an agency?

I also agree with PP... why the nervousness? Does management not want it posted with the company name? Can you say "no walk-ins" on the ad if concerned?

Although seeming outdated... what about the help wanted ads of a newspaper?

  • Also, do you have to put the WHOLE job description in the ad? What about a short-n-sweet condensed version for an online ad? You can always provide the fuller description at the interview.
  • local trade papers or trade website
  • Thanks ladies! "nervous" because it's my company and this is only the 2nd person i've had to hire. The first one i only posted on the local ad boards and received about 40 applications. I guess my concern with monster/career builder is i would get so many resumes. The whole hiring process is still a little overwhelming to me to be honest! thanks for the advice though - i appreciate it!

So you get a lot of applicants. They should be pretty easy to cull.
