Photo Editing?

What software do you use for photo editing? I know Photoshop is the ONE for this and I have an older version of it that I have a working knowledge of but honestly, it's far too complex for my needs. I know they have Elements, but I don't know much about it.

Re: Photo Editing?

  • I switched from Photoshop to Picasa/Picnik for basic photo editing.  It's a little more automatic and more intuitive for regular shots.  Plus, it's free.  My only gripe is that some things I think are basic, like adjusting exposure, you have to go to Picnik for, which takes time.
  • My go to software is photoshop if I'm really trying to play with a photo. Lightroom is another good one too. For simpe edits, I do them on Picasa.

  • Picasa (Free), Lightroom and PS Elements.  I LOVE Lightroom but it can be pricey.

  • I cannot, for the life of me, get a handle on Photoshop. I need to devote more time to learning the program, but right now, it's all Greek to me. I use it for some basic stuff, but I know it's so much more powerful.

I use Picnik via Flickr for shots I've uploaded to my Flickr account and I really like it. As a PP said, I find it's much more intuitive and "automatic". I push a button and it fixes something for me.

On my iPhone I use Camera+, which I use to process pretty much every mobile upload that appears on my Facebook (and the sicky survival guide photo that's in my blog today). I LOVE the program and even though I've tried other photo editors from the app store, it remains my absolute favorite.

  • Thanks for the suggestions! I will check out Picasa and Picnik.

  • In the free category, there's also GIMP.  I tried to use it, and it was total greek to me.  But most of photoshop is also completely over my head too.

SK, I know you are way more computer savvy than I am so maybe it woudl make sense to you.

But for simple edits - ditto pp's.  Picnik is my friend.
