DH is a slob!

DH and I had a conversation today about him not picking up after himself.  He blames it on his mom waiting on him hand and foot (it's ridiculous) growing up. He hasn't lived with his parents in 12 years.  I say it's laziness!  He eventually agreed.

So I'm curious.  Is your DH/SO a neat freak? slob? somewhere in between?

Re: DH is a slob!

  • DH is the neat freak. I like things organized and neat, but he's the OCD one of the two of us. I stopped doing laundry and dishes long ago. So when he's out of town for work, clothes and dishes tend to pile up... whoops! ;)
  • DH is okay with more "stuff" laying around than I am, and he definitely would be okay with cleaning the bathrooms every other week instead of every week Smile But he's not a slob by any means. I'm for sure the neat freak in the relationship. If I had more energy/time (and no dog), our house would be spotless 24/7.

  • Neither one of us is a neat freak or a slob. I like things a little more organized and cleaner than he does, but I've been getting increasingly lazy about doing something about it. Now about all I ask is that H doesn't leave his shoes in the middle of the floor for me to trip on.

  • H was a neat freak! Worse than me if you can imagine. Except for his shoes. He always left his shoes all over the house. He didn't clean much after I started staying home, but he liked it clean and if I let it go too long he would do it.

  • H is in between. He likes to let things pile up and then do this mass cleaning that takes hours. Me, though...ever since I became a mom, I try to keep things as neat as possible. Lots of things I've started doing on a daily or nearly-daily basis...like vacuum, wash dishes, do laundry etc...H doesn't necessarily do right away. I usually end up doing it when we're together.

  • He's in between both. Not really a neatfreak, but not a slob. There will be things like papertowels left on the counter or shoes all over the house, but nothing too bad. I will say that his sink is messier than mine though. I don't know how but that man get get toothpaste splatter all the way up the mirror.

  • Um, I have expressed my frustration with DH's sloppiness on this board 100k times. HE IS A SLOB.  When we were dating, his house was always SO CLEAN -I found out after we were married HE HAD A CLEANING LADY.  Can you imagine being 23 years old and your parents paying for you a cleaning lady?  It is awful. You should see the toilet in his bathroom.  I am going to clean it tonight because I don't want our pet sitter to get a social disease but seriously, YUCK.
  • DH isn't a slob, but he's nowhere near being a neat freak either.  He's more okay with stuff laying around than I am--laundry on the floor, things on the table, etc.  Nothing major, but I like things a little neater and more organized.

H does this too. I'm pretty laid back about cleaning, but for some reason toothpaste on the mirror drives me absolutely nuts.
