Hey ladies.
I have a snack drawer in my desk at work. This job is pretty slow and I'm the only one in the office, and I have my own soda machine. Give me some ideas on good semi-healthy snacks that can last in a drawer over time. Right now I'm sitting here munching on a bag of Munchies cheese fix.
I was proud of myself when I got laid off, I lost 30 pounds, and I'm afraid if I don't get some healthy snacks I'm going to put it all back on. I'm pretty good with the soda fact, I buy 1 can of Dr. Pepper to drink with my lunch, and usually don't finish the whole can by the time I leave at 4.

Re: Snack drawer help
I stock my snack drawer when I shop at the company store on Wednesday's, so my selection is limited. I have Nutri-Grain bars, Special K Fruit Crisps (LOVE those!!) and Cheez-Its.
Sometimes I'll bring in small containers of applesauce or a package of almonds.
All I have in mine is 100 bags of microwave popcorn and granola and some tea.
I'm a grazer so if I don't have thing I won't eat it. I try to only eat what I brough with me and when I stick to this plan, I eat well and lose weight.

I thought about bringing popcorn, but I have no microwave. And I have no refrigerator to atleast bring leftovers for lunch.
Almonds sound good. Maybe I'll get some nutri grain bars and some pop tarts. I plan on buying myself Cheez its...they are my favorite. When I worked at the hospital, sometimes my lunch consisted of Cheez its and water if it was a really hectic night.

I don't like to keep real snacks in my desk. I try to keep my snacks limited to fresh fruit, greek yogurt, or edamame. However we have a fridge/freezer in the breakroom so I've got a lot of options.
I recommend some oranges and apples to keep in your desk weekly, then take home if you don't eat during the week.
Or preportion trail mix, nuts, or pretzels into snack baggies to keep in your desk.
We have fridges at work but also a theft problem so I keep food at my desk in an insulated lunch box with ice packs and never have a problem. I bring carrot sticks, yogurt, cheese sticks, apples. I just portion it out for the week and bring it with me each day.
For shelf-stable snacks - if you want something healthy avoid super processed snacks. I like almonds, dried cranberries, and chocolate chips mixed together to make a trail mix.
Also those laughing cow wedges are shelf-stable and you could have those with crackers (I love the Kashi TLC crackers).
Man, I am hungry now.
I bring lots of snackie cakes (yes, I call it that!) that consist of:
fruit, almonds (they come in mini packs at Trader Joe's), make my own trail mix. Carrots and hummus. I also make my own pita chips too!
