sangria

anyone have a favorite sangria recipe to share?

Re: sangria

  • I loved the Sangria we made at Outback when I worked there. You might be able to find the recipe online.

  • I haven't made it in a long time.... but I remember we just poured a bottle of red wine in a pitcher, added sliced oranges, lemons, strawberries (or whatever fruit we had), and a couple spoons of sugar.  Mixed it all up and refrigerated for a while.  Serve over ice.  Can also be made with white wine.

And I recall that cheap wine worked the best.

    Cheers!!

  • Carrabas blackberry sangria is amazeballs. I've found the recipe online a couple of time, but it involves boiling/cooking/something blackberries and I never wanted to take the time to do it. If it's a true dupe though, it will knock your socks off.

  • If you do the standard red Sangria w/fruit, add some brandy!

  • So I bought the stuff to make it last night and then totally forgot to mix it up. I'm going home at noon today so I can make it first thing... it won't be 24 hrs but it should be 6ish hours of mixing time before the party.

I bought oranges, lemons, limes, apples, and club soda. I don't have any brandy - do I need to go buy some? I was thinking about adding gin and/or triple sec. and also some sugar. It's going to be made with red wine cause I bought that a couple weeks ago.

In my googling yesterday, I read that Spaniards consider sangria the same way we think of punch. It's a way to get drunk quickly and cheaply. Something they'll drink at home at a party, but not a drink they'd order in a bar. Don't know how true that is but it sounds plausible.

You don't have to get brandy, but I think it's definitely adds something. It could be good without it. Triple sec might be good, but I definitely wouldn't add gin.
