I have been interested in learning how to letterpress, but cannot find a local class. Of course, I can watch Youtube and probably find one there.
Do any of you have a little starter kit? I've been reading mixed reviews online about the Lifestyle Crafts Epic 6. Are there other kits out there?
TIA!
Re: Anyone here letterpress?
Hi there,
I was an art major in college and my favorite thing ever was print making. Unfortunately it's very expensive to do on your own! Anyway, for my birthday I just got the Lifestyle letterpress machine, whatever the full kit is. It's been great so far. It's really set up for a beginner, but I can see that with a little ambition you can use it for a lot of things. First, you don't have to buy their inks- you could use any printing ink you want so if you find less expensive sources or water-based that will work. Oil based inks are a PAIN to clean up. Also, if you are into it, you could use your own lino cuts to make your own patterns and run them through instead of purchasing theirs.
