Can we talk about the weather?

What's it like where you're at? Do you like it?

It went from high 90s here to 70s and cloudy in the past few days. While I love cool weather (baking time), I kinda miss a gradual descent into fall. We went from too hot to use the patio to too cold. But it's cool enough to have a kitty constantly in my lap, so that makes up for it.

My favorite place on earth: The Amargosa Valley.

Re: Can we talk about the weather?

  • I'm not loving the dramatic change but am liking that it's cool enough to turn on the oven!  (high in the 70's today.  rainy yesterday but clear today) They're talking about skiing by Halloween!  How weird would that be?
  • All week it was rainy and cold, overcast. Today is nice and warm and the weekend is going to be a little warmer. I kinda like it!

  • It's lovely here.  About 60 degrees and clear, sunny skies.  I'm SO excited for the 10-day, too - highs in the 70s and lows in the 50s.  Perfect for having my parents here and going around to do touristy things!

  • I have been loving this weather. Definitely baking weather. However, it is supposed to get warmer this upcoming week.

  • I noticed CA weather is sometimes made of a week of cold weather followed by a week of hot weather, and then the same thing over and over again. It was chilly in our area the last few days but the temperature is in the 70s again today. Personally, I prefer the hot weather. Greyish and cold weathers depress me.
  • It's schizo here. One day it's in the high 80's, the next it's cold and rainy, the next it's in the low 70's and sunny. I want it to stop being hot any day at all (80's is too warm for me). I don't mind some rain as long as it doesn't rain everyday. I don't mind it if it isn't sunny for days because hello, this is fall! It's not summer, not spring. We've had plenty of sun, I want some gray days.
  • Blech.  It's supposed to be spring here, but it's rainy, windy and cold.  9 degrees C, which is about 48F.  We are supposedly going to have a nice summer.  I doubt it.  It's never warm enough here for me...the weather has been the hardest thing to adjust to as an expat.

Really?! I wouldn't have thought that about NZ. Is it just your area or is that true all over?

NZ has very different weather depending where you are.  Wellington is notorious for being super windy; hence the nickname "Windy Welly".  The north of the north island tends to be warmer, as well as the north of the south island.  In many areas you can experience all four seasons in a matter of hours.  The south of the south island has more extreme weather; hot is the summers, cold and snowy in the winters.  There are days that get warm, just not warm enough for this CA girl.  Also, the sun here is HOT!  The big hole in the ozone is right over NZ, so the sun is really harmful...must always wear sunblock.
