Where should I shop for jeans?

My only pair of jeans are dangerously close to getting a hole in the butt.  I need to find a replacement before this happens.  I have the worst time finding jeans.  In the past I've had luck at American Eagle and Express, but I feel like both are getting a little too trendy for my taste.  I bought my last pair of jeans at least five years ago.

Here are my criteria, any suggestions?

I am 5'2" so they need to have short lengths available.

I don't like any "fashionable" rips or fades, especially since I prefer to wear jeans til they fall apart anyway, so there is no sense in getting a head start on that.  Also no jewels or anything on the pockets.  I want to wear them to work.

I'd like to spend under $100.

I usually go for a medium rise (not showing my crack, not suffocating my bellybutton) and a boot cut or slight flare.

  • Are you near the Wrentham outlets? I like Lucky jeans. They have an outlet there. They have a variety of styles. I'm sure you'll be able to find one that fits your criteria. They also last quite a while.

  • I'm not near Wrentham but would be willing to make a trip, that's actually not a bad idea.  Probably better store selection than going to the mall.

  • Ann Taylor Loft. And there's an outlet in Wrentham. There are actually TONS of jean options in Wrentham. Banana Republic, Michael Kors (not as expensive as you might think), Off Saks... And they're opening a Bloomingdales!!
  • Old Navy. Kohls has some that have selectable length, but not all.

I second Lucky jeans.  My favorite pair of jeans is a pair of Lucky's I got at TJ Maxx for $40 (they're usually $75+).

ETA:  Don't let the fact that some brands don't come in short/ankle length turn you off.  It's generally ~$8 to get jeans hemmed by a tailor.

It's not the cost but the inconvenience.  I know it will take me months to get out to get them hemmed.  I bought a too-long pair of jeans a few years ago that were super on sale and I figured I would get them hemmed.  They are still in a box somewhere in my attic.  Whoops.

  • CK outlet. I love their skinny jeans and they have a lot of different styles

  • I swear by Tommy Hilfiger jeans. My friend told me to try them a while back, and I didn't think they'd fit because I'm not skinny in the slightest. But they're so comfy, and they fit really well.  They're usually about 70 bucks at Macys, but they go on sale pretty frequently.

CK is a good one too. I think I got mine at Marshalls.

Or if you want premium denim deeply discounted, Off 5th at Wrentham.

  • My new favorite place for jeans is, of all places, Eddie Bauer.  They come in a variety of washes (I prefer darker ones), have short lengths (I'm 5'1"), and are really comfy.  I wear bootcut legs too.  If you were coming tomorrow, you'd see me in a pair, probably!

  • Seriously, though. They look like real jeans!
  • Another Lucky fan here. DH and I have bought only Lucky jeans for the past year or two. They're super comfortable and last a really long time. The outlet is definitely the way to go.

  • I like Lucky jeans too.  I would suggest going to the outlets and just trying on a bunch of stuff.  I just got a pair of jeans from Lands End Canvas which I surprisingly like.  I am not normally a Lands End girl.  I love Paige jeans and Joes jeans, but gained a bunch of weight and am trying to loose it again, so I am going to wait until then.  You can get premium denim at Sak's Outlet, Nordstrom rack, and Neiman outlet.

  • All this outlet talk....and with a sick DH and I wanted to enjoy the gorgeous weather yesterday, so I went.  Crazy busy!!! I only made it through half the place before I was beat.  Did buy my first pair of Lucky jeans, from their sale rack $20...score!

A lot of the stores had an extra 30% off for the holiday weekend, if DH didn't take the car today, I would have gone back Smile

  • If I'm looking for a quick buy for everyday jeans I go to Old Navy, their short sizes fit me pretty well.  But if I want nice jeans I go to Express, I don't know what it is but their jeans make me look awesome!

Awesome!  I definitely have to get down there ASAP.  Glad to hear you had a good trip.
