I promised I'd have questions.

Re: Fun date night things to do?

  • If you like to dance, there are some fun places to do that.

Also, depending on your taste in music, you could check out helotes on a friday or saturday night, Floores Country Store usually has some good bands playing. Although it is mostly texas country.

The Roaring Fork has some good food! it is right next door to Wildfish, I saw you had been there.

I'm a local, so downtown SA is boring to me, but there is no reason why you two shouldn't check it out.

There is a restuarant off San Pedro, called.. uh.. crap the name slipped my mind. Its across from Wendy's close to North Star. Anyway, its Italian, and pretty good.

anyways, I am trying to think but it's hard when I havent gone out with the hubby, in what seems like forever. lol

  • You are the second person this week to mention the Roaring Fork...it is officially on our list of must dine there soon.

MrPom loves Tx country so we will have to check out those places/bands.

    Thanks!

  • Well, if y'all like to dance you could check out Cowboys, they sometimes have good live bands on the weekends. But it does fill up with minors. Thirsty Horse is a bar for 21 and up, and their house band is usually good. Although it gets packed! Also, gruene is a fun little town to visit. There are cute shops and good food. As well as gruene hall which has live bands most weekends. Sorry I don't know much about any other night life than country music stuff lol. There's a little cafe called Pams kitchen off of wurzbach parkway and lockhill Selma that has good food. If your into vegetarian or healthy type food you could check out "twin sisters" it's on n new braunfels ave.

  • I'm with PP. Gruene is a fun little town near New Braunfels. Go eat at the Gristmill and then check out Gruene Hall. There's always someone playing there.

Do you like sushi? Check out Godai - it should be very close to you on West Avenue, just west of Blanco. Since you're new to the city, go check out the Riverwalk after T-giving. I still enjoy it that time of year because of the holiday lights.

If you're into country music, Floore's is also a good place to check out.

It's been a long time since I've gone out dancing, so I don't have many recs. I'm getting too old!!! LOL!

  • I am partial to a night of karaoke, so there are great places all over town for that.  Just ask the night, and I will tell you the best place to go!  I LOVE Lion and Rose Pub on Wednesday nights.  The karaoke is awesome and the crowd is very outgoing... My husband and I always meet new people when we go there.  :)

  • I don't really like the downtown area because of tourists/crowds.  But my husband recently took me on a surprise date night to the Havana hotel bar downtown.  It's one of those really old kinda creepy hotels with an awesome bar.  They have a bunch of couches and comfy chairs and wonderful drinks and desserts.  The ambiance is so relaxing with the music and the only lights they have in the bar are red cathedral candles.  If your looking for a quiet, relaxing, romantic date I highly suggest the Havana bar.
