Need last minute thoughts - wedding attire

So I'm going to a wedding tomorrow evening and am anticipating it being semi-formal. I had a dress picked out but now that my knee is all jacked up, I have to wear a huge brace that goes from my upper thigh to lower calf and prevents me from bending my knee. It's going to be so uncomfortable without pants on underneath it, not to mention a dress is not so smart if I happen to fall/get off balance/ have to move my leg in a not so ladylike way because I can't bend it. Would it be OK to wear dress pants and a dressy top? I don't want to be underdressed but at the same time, I'm wondering if I have an "excuse"?

Re: Need last minute thoughts - wedding attire

  • I would absolutely wear nice dress pants and a dressy shirt.  Not only would it be acceptable ettiquette-wise anyway, but I'm sure people will understand given your current umm... choice of accessories.  Wink  What a bummer.  It's going to be really awkward trying to dance and get your groove on with that brace.

So sorry to hear about your injury (sorry I haven't been on much lately).  Any updates?   T&P for a speedy recovery.

  • oh you ladies saved my night! I was thinking about the logistics and it was so not going to be pretty :) I have a really cute dressy top from a wedding I went to in September so I'm all set! phew :)

@kevinandmonica - only update is that it turned out to be what they thought - ligament issues :( Just a wait and see thing right now because of where/how I damaged them. Hoping it all heals on its own but I'm not an ideal "take it easy" candidate because I refuse to slow down usually. sigh.

  • Ugh... the "take it easy" is so difficult.  I will send you healing thoughts and positive vibes.  Hope you are back to full speed soon.
