Update on my DH

First I want to thank you all for the T&Ps/vibes. They are much appreciated.

Next, the verdict is in. My DH requires a total replacement of both hips at the oh-so-young age of 42. He has no cartilage left - it's bone-on-bone. No wonder he hurts! We have been told this is hereditary. Who knew? :(

Re: Update on my DH

  • I am so sorry to hear this. My mom has had both her hips replaced, her first hip replacement was at 35, and she has that one redone 3 times and her other hip replaced in her 50s. As she had them done (and the technology became better), they have been easier to recover from and last longer. I hope everything goes well for him!

  • Wow, that sounds painful :( I hope all goes smoothly and vibes for a speedy recovery!
  • I'm so sorry. I hope the surgery is a success and he recovers quickly.
  • Poor thing. Those hip problems hurt! The surgeries really have come a long way. A relative had a hip replaced and her scar is shockingly tiny.

  • my friends dad had both of his hips replaced last year at 50ish years old (still young for hip replacements!) but it has been life changing and they have been able to do vacations again.  He is like a new man now! when will he have them replaced?
  • I'm sorry that your DH is going through this.  He seems really young for this, but youth is a good thing in the case of replacements.  If he needs new hips, he must be in significant pain, so hopefully, this will bring him relief!

  • Sorry to hear this. Sending lots of vibes and I hope everything goes great.

  • Thank you everyone! We don't know exactly when it will happen. He's got a few other health problems going on too and those have to be resolved before he can have the hip replacements so it might be awhile. At least they are now managing his pain a little better and we have hope he will walk properly again someday in the not too distant future.

  • Late to the game. Glad they figured it out--vibes to him that his pain can be managed until surgery!

Chronically hilarious - you'll split your stitches!
I wrote a book! Bucket list CHECK!
  • I'm also late to the game but wanted to say I'm sorry to hear what your H is going through. I hope that they're able to manage his pain very well while you're waiting for the surgery.
