Hi Ladies,
I've been a lurker here for awhile but have never posted here. I know you guys get a ton of sewing machine questions, so I feel bad about asking another one. I've always hand stitched everything and just recently started trying to use a machine without much luck.
I have a Brother XL3500 sewing machine. It worked for about 5 minutes, and then DH sat down to try and it and it hasn't worked since(I blame him lol). Anyway, when I go to start sewing a piece of fabric, it just sews the same area a whole bunch and ends up with a huge knot before it will actually let me move the fabric forward and it sews like a regular machine. Then when I pull the fabric out to cut the thread to start another area, the bottom thread is no longer attached to the top....so I have to pull out the bobbin & put it back in every single time. I am very frusterated and not sure what I am doing wrong.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
Re: Sewing Machine Question
PP is right, but in addition, be sure that your bobbin is unrolling in a counterclockwise direction, and be sure that it is inserted in the tension adjusting spring on the bobbin case.

Ditto. My old Brother machine did the same thing with one particular bobbin and it was such a pain in the butt.
