XP - Sewing curtains question
I am trying to use some leftover fabric to make some simple curtains. It is 54 inches wide and about 132 inches long. I had hoped to use this but it doesn't look like I can. I am pretty new to sewing.
Our
front room has three windows together, which are 120 inches wide. The
curtain rod would need to be hung about 84 inches high. About how big do
each of my curtain panels need to be? I am having a hard time figuring
this out. TIA!!!
Re: XP - Sewing curtains question
I'm pretty sure the recommended width is 1.5 or 2 times the width of your window. Therefore, you'd need a minimum width of 180". The reasoning is so that when you pull your curtains closed, they don't look pulled tight with no fabric to spare. They should still be "billowy" when closed.
My living room also has three windows right next to each other, totaling 120". We used 4 panels (57" each) and it was almost not enough.
