Charlotte Nesties

I know this board is really slow but I'm hoping someone can help us out.

We just moved to Charlotte and we live in the University area. We need all new everything and don't even know where to start. Specifically:

- physician

- ob/gyn

- dentist

- vet

- dog groomer

- place to get our cars serviced

Does anyone have any recommendations? Also, does anyone have any recommendations on how to meet people? I tried to join a meet up group and that did not work out.

Re: Charlotte Nesties

  • First of all, welcome to Charlotte!  I am 29 and I was born and raised here so I would be gald to help you out in any way I can.  What brings you here?  Where are you from?

I went to school at UNCC and my brother lives up that way, ao I am familiar with the area, howver I am down in Lake Wylie/Steele Creek area so some of my recommendations may not be convenient, but I will try:

    1.  Dr. Layton @ Randolph Internal Medicine

Dr. Gilchrist @ Presby Family Healthcare

Ped:  Ballentyne Pediatrics, Dr. Twerdi !!!

These are the best docs I've come across in all of my time here!

     2.  Carmel OBGYN is who I now use, but i highly recommend Midtown OBGYN, they are uptown and I just got tired of the drive, but you are closer.  Carmel is great too though.

    3.  Dr. Semindinger

    (704) 553-1627   (my dentist my whole life)

    4.  I haven't really found a great vet if you can believe that :(  But DO NOT use Banfield at any Petsmart.  They are greedy bloodsuckers and also the worst at what they do!

    5.  I do use the groomer at Petsmart, but only b/c I don't know where else to go myself!  :/

     6.  Compton's Automotive 704-900-3879.  They are the best as far as telling you the truth even when it means less $ for them, and I've been to TONS of mechanics.  These guys are the best.

Lemme know how else I can help!  Good luck settling in!

  • we just moved back to the university area; the only rec i have is an ob/gyn; i go to greater carolina's women's center at the hospital complex; my favorite so far is dr. powell. i used to go to eastover (same complex) and liked the doctors there, but not the nurses or receptionists.

  • Do you work uptown?  Most of my docs, dentist, etc. are uptown, and vet/groomer/etc. are in Dilworth/South End area.  Might be convenient if you work uptown, but if not, the recommendations won't help!

No, I actually work up towards Lake Norman :(

H works in South Charlotte so we could possibly use a groomer down there. Then I wouldn't have to take them, lol.
