Have you looked at any houses in The Preserve in Chesapeake?

  • I don't think so. Is that a specific neighborhood, or development or something?  Right now one of my favorite houses is in Deep Creek.

  • Holy crap, I just googled it, and big mistake!  They are gorgeous, but most are waayyyyy out of our price range.  We are trying to keep it at max $210k, and there is only one even available that was close to that, and it was $228k.  Most are $300-500k though.

  • It's like, my dream neighborhood.

I babysit for a family that lives there, and whenever I go over I drive around fantasizing about living there lol.

Those houses are so darn cute!

  • Yeah those are gorgeous homes, and the neighborhood is adorable!  Maybe if we end up just staying in the area that will be our second home purchase.  Obviously we'll have to go wherever the Navy sends us, but it's pretty easy to stay in that area if you want because of how many bases and ships are there.

What do you know about the Deep Creek area?  Is it decent?  My other favorite house is in the Old Norfolk Historic District, so we want to wait and see what the area and neighborhood is like.  H keeps looking up detailed information on each neighborhood, and has basically said that South Norfolk part of Chesapeake isn't happening.  Norfolk Highlands doesn't seem too bad though, and Deep Creek seems even better.  Any opinions?

  • I don't know too much about the Deep Creek area, aside from the fact that the schools are some of the more ghetto ones in the Chesapeake school district. If you don't have kids that might not matter but it could cause problems when it comes time to sell.

  • Ok thanks.  That's interesting because of the different areas we've looked at it seems to be the least ghetto according to city info.  I had mentioned to H about Indian River not being a good district, and he said he's 90% sure he'll want to send our kids to private school anyways so it won't matter.  But you're right that it could make a difference when it comes time to sell.
