Travel Question

Okay so next year (2009) me and DH are wanting to go somewhere the second week of December. DH's b'day falls in that week.  There is the possibility of a cruise (we've been on them before just never at that time of year), other than that I am looking for stateside ideas.  If you could go anywhere (with this criteria) where and why would you go?

Re: Travel Question

  • Opryland in Nashville is very pretty....

Opryland in Nashville is very pretty....

We live a little over an hour from there and are actually going up there this year the weekend after his b'day to see the Christmas lights at the hotel and to go shopping.   It is very pretty up there :)

  • The Biltmore Estate in North Carolina - I've always wanted to go during December.

Are you wanting beach?  I'd look in to San Diego or the Keys for that...

  • I hear that Gatlinburg is very pretty at Christmastime.

    Siggy coming soon....
  • Biltmore....it is beautiful! We went for Thanksgiving in 2006 and they had it decorated for Christmas and it was gorgeous!

We ate Thanksgiving at the Grove Park Inn and I wish that we could have stayed there....it was gorgeous!

Going to Gatlinburg next week lol...although DH isn't going.  Lol sorry I am making this more difficult :)

  • I had considered the Biltmore because I heard it was gorgeous!  Also considering Savannah.  I'd also love to go to Williamsburg Virginia.  Or maybe out west somewhere...ah there are too many choices :)
  • girl....a cruise is pretty bada$$ as well.... i might be persuaded towards that option....
  • A cruise is definitely a great option - you really get the most out of your money!

I absolutely love Biltmore - it would be beautiful at Christmas.  Asheville is a great city.

  • I love Savannah!!!! We always stay at the Marriott on the river, very pretty. Just never been at Christmas.
  • Duh, Savannah!!  FI and I have gone to Savannah every December for the past 3 years.  I love it there!
  • Probably skiing somewhere in Colorodo...I've never been, but DH has several times and says it is wonderful.  Sitting in an outdoor hot tub with a glass of wine while the snow is falling...
  • Oops!  Looks like you want to go somewhere closer than that!
  • Oh no I am open to anywhere it doesn't have to be close.  We have an entire week so I am kinda sorta wanting a longer trip.....skiing is something else I want to do.  I have lots I want to do lol!
  • I was going to suggest skiing or going to New York--I have ALWAYS wanted to go there while they were decorated for Christmas.
  • My birthday is Dec. 16 and last year we went on a cruise to the Bahamas. It was GREAT that time of year! Thats also when DH proposed. I would totally recommend it! BUT leave from Miami instread of Mobile.

  • I would either go on a cruise or go to Asheville. The mountains in Asheville are beautiful and wouldn't it be nice to be able to cuddle up with your husband next to a fireplace. A cruise would be nice too because you can relax on a ship and enjoy being out on the water. Either one would be a great getaway.
