Annoying OU/OSU fans that work with you - spill the beans

It seems that I always have to work with one super annoying "fan" - drives me crazy.  At this job, it is an OSU fan (and trust me, I will beyatch about annoying OU fans as well).  He came in here one day - I was blowing my nose and he said "Oh, are you crying because you all dropped to number two?"  I said "Who did a number two?"  Like seriously, wtf?  He said "The Sooners dropped to number two."  I said "Okay.  What does that have to do with anything?  Why did you come into my office?"  I don't even try to be nice to him.

Then, he sent me an email today "So, how did the Sooners do this weekend?"  It is like he wants to pretend he doesn't care about OU but comes off looking like a complete OU stalker, you know the type. I didn't even reply.

The best part - he was just at the copy machine complaining about the drive home from DALLAS on Sunday.  His coworker said "Why would you go to Dallas, it was OU/TX weekend - everyone knows that."  He said "Well, I had some stuff to do. I shouldn't have to avoid going to Dallas the second weekend of October because of that stupid game. And anyway I shouldn't have to wait in traffic because I am not a SOONERS fan." 

Are you flucking kidding me?  GAG ME.

Ugh, there's a SUPER annoying OSU fan at my work. He is constantly talking bad about OU. No matter how good OU plays he feels like he has to point out every single little bad thing OU did during the game. And he feels the need to make sure everyone knows how awesome OSU is and how they're going to be the National Champions this year (not saying they won't, but he says this every single year.) He is the only part of football season I dread. I hate going to work on Mondays (even if OU played awesome and won that weekend) because I know I'm going to hear trash talking. He's also the only reason why I like when OSU loses. I used to want them to win when they weren't playing OU, but now I just want them to lose only so he will shut up. (Btw, I would feel this way no matter what team he was a fan of, it's not just because he's an OSU fan.)

I completely understand about hoping OSU loses. Before I married H, I would go for OSU whenever they weren't playing OU, but her attitude has totally ruined that for me. I'm still trying to stick to my guns and pull for all state teams, but it's getting really, really tough. I'm a big OU fan, but I've never really been a trash-talker.

Ha ha ha. I nearly married an OSU alum.  His mother called him "OSU boring."  I never really cared about OSU until after we broke up and now I find myself always cheering against them. It annoys me that he tainted my state spirit.  And I definitely could still cheer for them but considering all the trash he talks - I want him to feel embarrassed year after year...so maybe I am not exactly cheering against OSU but my ex-fiance...

Well, I work on campus, so working with OSU haters just doesn't happen [although I'm sure we have people who work on campus who could give two sh!ts about OSU - half of my office at my last job came from other universities and aren't OSU fans]. My sister has a friend who is a super annoying OU fan - he always says, "I cheer for everyone," then asks me if I'm ready for OSU to get their asses handed to them in Bedlam, how long it's been since we won Bedlam, if Boone has suited up for the team yet etc. Honey, I'm a realistic OSU fan - I realize our place as the second best team in the state. But don't be a jerk about it. I never say anything about OU, and yet, he just turns that way when I'm around.

It always amazes me how bad it gets during football season. Now that OSU doesn't really suck anymore, the sh!t I get from some OU fans is ridiculous. Definitely isn't like this during the other sports seasons [even basketball, now that we both aren't exactly making noise at the Big Dance]. I have to constantly remind myself that cheering for OU is OK because the team is really good...some obnoxious fans make it hard to do though.

HAH. I married into a family of Texas fans. My BIL about made me (and my mom) lose it on Facebook this weekend. In fact, I will copy/paste his original comment (edited slightly):

OU's sucking transcends athletics or academics. They are the worst thing to ever happen to anyone. The state is the ---hole of our country. And furthermore they hate everything Texas but would never win anything without Texas players. BTW, they're also all Cowboy fans, WTF?!? The only thing about Oklahoma I do like is that every time they cheer for the Thunder, they're cheering for a Longhorn! 

This was when we were 30 points up, btw. I told him to be nice, and he replied:

Kate, I love you. But that school you went to is awful! You have to admit it. Fortunately you were able to wash the stink of that place off of you!

UGH UGH UGH. He's my favorite BIL, but he drives me NUTS with how much hate he posts about OU. He posts more OU hate than Texas love.

Luckily, my co-workers all seem super cool about their teams--no one is too crazy.

Almost everyone in my office is an OSU alum, so I don't have to deal with this much in the workplace.  I'm not going to come in on Monday and grill an OU fan about Saturday's game, but I do participate in back and forth banter occasionally (all in good fun).

However, every member of my mother's side of the family is an extreme OU fan.  Like, ridiculed me for going to OSU even though I was the first person on that side of the family to GO TO COLLEGE!  This is where my deep rooted hate for OU began.  I am not one of the people who say "I will cheer on all OK teams".  No, absolutely not.

I usually hear all this same stuff you all hear from OSU fans but from OU fans. This one takes the cake though-I am at the grocery store last week and this lady I know is behind telling me about how her daughter just went to work at OSU and how they gave her an OSU shirt. Well the daughter put on the shirt and her son told her to go back to her room and put on an OU shirt that OSU was NOT allowed their house. I kind of laugh then she goes on to say "you know it its hard for A with her red blood to go in to anemic enviroment each day" I seriously wanted to tell her to FUCKOFF! This is the crap that bothers me about OU fans.

This is pretty much me, too. I think the banter is fun, as long as it's kept that way. Other than my immediate family, my entire family is filled with OU fans. Most are extremely obnoxious, some are not. And, I do not, will not, cannot cheer for OU.

I don't have any annoying coworkers, but I've got some FB friends I'm thisclose to blocking during football season.  They're the kind who MUST find something, anything negative to say about OSU.  You're an OU fan, fine--but why must you make snide comments??  For instance, one of the most frequent offenders had this status last weekend:

1. We are home

2. Let's just get something straight here real quick.....it was KANSAS for crying out loud!!! 

3. TEXAS SUX!!!!!!

REALLY????  It's not necessary to bash the team you don't like.  I'm an OSU fan, but I never say negative comments like that about OU. 

Also, I hate when people post things like "we need a new QB" after Landry throws 1 interception (just an example).  This annoys the sh!t out of me.  If you're a fan then be a FAN----don't start bashing your own team as soon as one player makes one mistake.  D@mn.  And no, I do not cheer for OU.  I never will, but I don't cheer against them either (meaning, I wasn't yelling hook 'em horns last weekend).

This annoys the heck out of me!! It especially seems to happen in the student section. Any time Landry has a bad throw, people start talking crap about him. Last season, this stupid, drunk guy was yelling stuff like "Landry sucks!" "We miss Bradford" blah blah blah. I really wanted someone to punch him in the face Of course, the majority isn't like that, just a select few.
