Re: Weekend Recap 10/8

  • Huskers had the biggest comeback in school history to beat Ohio State 34-27.  We were down in the 3rd quarter, when our D stripped the ball and scored off the turnover.  Their QB got hurt a few plays later and was out for the rest of the game.  Our offense finally decided to play and made some plays.  Sexy Rexy had a good game as usual.

We have a bye week and then Minnesota so a chance to get things figured out.

  • Western Michigan beat Bowling Green 45-21.  I was at the game, my yearly trip to Kalamazoo for Homecoming.  Perfect weather, near 80.

My "other" team, Michigan beat Northwestern & now it's on to rival #1, Michigan State this weekend.

  • Wait-there was football this weekend?  I must have blocked Saturday from my mind...Huh?

  • Mizzou played a piss-poor game vs. Kansas State.  It was very disappointing.  They looked pretty darn bad.

We also had some horrible play calling (which is becoming a theme).  We have RB that 40% (or more) of his runs this season have been for more than 10 yards.  He ran the ball 6 times on Saturday...and more than half of those were for more than 10 yards.  Why not give him the ball more often, especially if it's working?  I understand that eventually the defense is going to catch on and probably shut him down....but, let the defense decide when that's going to happen.

Our place kicker missed 2 FGs...again.  He missed 2 v Oklahoma and 2 v Arizona State.  The ones v KSU were not of any major distance.  He was money last year and is now pretty bad and he can't seem to shake it.

This weekend is homecoming v Iowa State.  Hopefully they can pull it together.

  • OSU routed KU, 70-28. My 2-year-old wasn't happy during first half, so we ended up leaving before halftime - but the score was already like, 59-7 at that point. I would've stayed through the whole game if he hadn't been in a crummy mood; not quite sure I've seen anything like that ever. Granted, KU is just bad, so it's not like we routed a good team.

We play UT this week in Austin, which I honestly think will be a test for us. I know we're projected to win, but I'm still holding my breath.

  • I didn't watch much of the game at all (I was in Kansas City visiting my grandparents) but my H was in Manhattan for the game and he said that they looked good.

K-State is the "underdog", again, against Texas Tech. I think they play their best when the media underestimates them. Coach Snyder knows how to work that angle well. They are now 5-0 in the season and it's looking favorable. If they can get to OU without losing, we'll have had a great season.

We had this problem at Wisconsin.  I didn't understand why we quit running the ball when it was working.  Rex Burkhead is a beast and does well...give him the ball!

Yeah, I watched that game at Wisconsin.  With a shaky QB like T-Mart and a stud RB Rex - why not run the football??

I was incredibly impressed to see Nebraska make the biggest come back in school history against OSU last weekend. Amazing!  I can only imagine being in Lincoln that night.  :)
