Interview and waiting

I had a job interview last Wed.  At the end of the interview they asked me to come back on Thursday to meet their COO and bring my salary request.  when I went to leave the reginal manager said he would like to hire me if we can negociate my salary.  He seemed very excited for me to start ASAP.  I followed up with a "thank you" email that night.

I gave them my salary request over the phone on Thursday when I called to ask a few more questions.  I met the COO that afternoon.  I followed up on Friday with a "thank you" email.

I have not heard from them since.  How long to I wait before making contact?

Re: Interview and waiting

  • I think you should wait a week. It's been three days, if I read this right.

  • I agree.  Wait at least a week.

  • I also would wait a week. Was this the Friday before the holiday? If so, some people take extra time off.
  • You should have asked when they would be making a decision.

I'd wait a week, then check in and ask about the timeline.

  • Thank you ladies!  It is good to hear that all of you think a week is understandable.  It is just so hard to wait!

  • Waiting is definately the hard part.  Don't be surprised if they don't have an answer for you in a week.  I've been searching for a new job for a couple months now.  Several of the agencies have taken longer than the designated time frame to get back to me.  It's definately frustrating, but be patient!  Things will work out.
