She is home, resting, moving slowly. Recovery is taking longer (and is more painful) than she thought it'd be. I'm going to spend the day with her tomorrow so her H can go to work. A low-stimulation environment is still required, and she dozes off like a senior citizen.

It was good to see her, though, especially after being gone all last week while things were more stressful.
Re: Saw my sister today
Ditto this. Hope she's feels better soon.
I thought a response to this post, but apparently didn't post it. Thanks for the update and glad to hear that your sister is recovering, even if it's a little more difficult than she expected.
She and your family will continue to be in my thoughts.
Thanks, ladies.
Her biggest struggle now is eating enough. She's had no appetite for two weeks, plus the meds have been killing her desire to eat. Hopefully I can find something that she'll tolerate so she can start getting some good calories in.

Can you get her to drink some Ensure to at least get some calories in. What about some power smoothies?
I made her a green monster today--milk, peanut butter, banana, flax, spinach, ice--and she drank it while I was there. I'll try more of the same tomorrow, plus some kind of smooth soup for lunch. If we eat while we watch Friends
maybe she won't think about it too much and just sip away.

That green monster sounds great. How much PB do you add?
It's a recipe of "ones."
1 cup milk (almond works great, too)
1 cup (or handful) greens
1 Tbsp peanut butter
1 Tbsp flax meal
1 banana
ice, to achieve desired texture

I'm glad your sister is doing well. I'm still keeping all of you in my thoughts.
A funny story about the Green Monster - I JUST learned about them over the weekend. I asked Ben today if I could make one for us in the next few days and not tell him what is in it. LOL! The recipe I found is a little different but similar to what you posted. I can't wait to try it!
We've done green monsters with success. I didn't have spinach and used some swiss chard from the garden instead. If I put it in a cup with a lid and a straw, the kids love them. I think the PB addition will really win them over.
Strange where this thread went, sorry.
Will oatmeal or cream of wheat work for you sister?
The first time I had J and C try my "green shake" I made them close their eyes before they saw the color. Now we regularly enjoy them.
I took some oatmeal to her but don't know if she ate it. Was also thinking a mildly sweet quinoa porridge-type thing would be easy going down and provide a little protein, too.

I don't always use kale, and I usually use 1/2 Tbsp flax meal. Unless you need poo-sistance, the full tablespoon is kind of a lot.
