Poll: What time do you or your DH leave work?

I was just wondering what time do you or your DH leave work? I was talking about this last night at a dinner and it seems people here leave work super late. (And post your location as well)

Re: Poll: What time do you or your DH leave work?

  • I work from home here on a half-US schedule, so I'm kind of irrelevant.

H typically works until 7:30 or 8 here in India. In the US he would usually finish work by 6 or 6:30.

  • When we were in Geneva H would stay at work until 8 or 9 a lot of the time.  I think that was unique to his group though, because he often complained that everyone else was able to leave by 6.

Here it's much better.  Everyone at his office leaves work at 4:30 to beat the traffic jam.

  • It varies! I usually am out the door by 5 or 5:30, and since I work in the same building as DH, I'll stop by his office before going home. Some nights it's closer to 6 pm since I'm working with the US campus.

  • H and I both leave at some point between 6 and 7. The different is that he starts at 6:30 and I start around 9 or 9:30. Poor guy. We're in London.

  • DH goes to work at 4:30 pm and comes home during the week at 10/10:30 pm. On the weekends if it's busy, he could be there until 2 am waiting for the last customer to leave. We're in the Scottish Borders, and he's the manager at his parents restaurant.

  • I work 24 hours a day ;-)

DH leaves for work (or starts working) around 8 or 9. He will be done by 5:30 or 6ish. When we were in the US, he would often leave for work by 7 or 8 and wouldn't get home until 6, 6:30 at the earliest (a half an hour commute each way).

In contrast, I went to a friends house this morning, and her husband was still there, in his pajamas! While I was there (at 9:30ish), he showered and then left for work around 10. He told her he would be home around 5!

  • I'm in London and I think working hours here are much better than the US! I generally leave my house around 8:30-8:45 to get in around 9:15. And leave about 6... sometimes a little earlier, often times 15-20 minutes later.
  • We're in Leeds.  I don't work and H usually gets to work around 7:15 am and then leaves around 5:30.  I absolutely love it.  In the US he wouldn't be home til 8 pm sometimes.

  • We're in the ME - DH usually starts working at 9 or 930 and gets home around 530 or 6..sometimes later if he's super busy. when I was working, I went in between 830 and 9 and left at about 6-630 or so.

  • when I was working I'd work 8:30-5:30, DH works 8-5 but normally leaves closer to 5:30 or 6 and sometimes takes work home.

Oh and we're in Luxembourg & DH is one of the owners in the company.

  • DH works a lot longer than me!

I tend to get to work around 9:00 to 9:30 a.m. and leave between 5:30 and 6:00 p.m.  I also have about one evening event for work once per week.

DH manages a team in NYC from London and works closely with some guys in Singapore.  His core hours are 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., but he typically has a few meeting with NYC at 5:30 p.m. start time.  And when he has to work with Singapore sometimes that is a start time at 4:00 a.m.  He tries to get home around 8:30 p.m. and sometimes works from home after that.

We eat dinner late.  Typically at 9:00 p.m. or 9:30 p.m., but it works well for us.

  • We're in Boston DH leaves in the morning before 7am and he leaves in the evening on a good day between 530 and 6pm, but during busy periods, like right now, closer to 7pm.

  • Good question! We're in Frankfurt. DH works for a British firm.

I teach in the evenings, and I'm home by 9.15. I also do work at home before I go to work (planning, marking).

DH goes to work at around 8AM and comes home at 8-8.30- on a good day. He then does some work at home. He also works a bit on the weekends at home. ATM he has a deal in Saudi Arabia and since their work week is different, he does work on the weekends. He'll be there this weekend. Sad

I feel he works too much, and it's a sore spot for us. I don't know if I'm crazy, and maybe this is just normal, but I can say it's affecting us.

  • I'm out the door at 5:30.  Hours are 9-5:30.  A few times (I can count the number on one hand since I started) I've had to take work calls after hours, but that was only because I wanted to make it easier for the candidate.

  • I'm in the US. DH works 5am to 1pm and usually leaves around 4am. My school starts at 8:15 but I like to be there early to set up so I leave around 7 generally. ETA: I read that as what time do you leave FOR work. As for leaving work at the end of the day, DH leaves around 1 or 2 when his shift is done. I leave between 3 and 4 depending on how much work I had to do for the next day and how much work I'm bringing home. The building closes at 4 so I take a lot home to work on.
  • We live in the US.

I leave @ 8am to be @ the office for 8:30.  I leave between 4 & 5 depending on the craziness of the day.  I have flex time if I need it (which I do when undergoing IF tx) to come in early or stay late.  DH is a college prof so his hours are all over the place.

  • We're in Belgium. We get to work around 8:45am, and are able to leave at 5:30pm. I am almost always ready to go home on time, but DH is not. He is really doing the job of 3 ppl so I usually hang around his office with him - then we leave by 6:30 or 7:00pm. Speaking of, that's where I am and what I'm doing right now Sad He just started this new job, and they are in the middle of a project, so maybe when that's over we can get back to leaving on time and doing cardio after work. Sitting around for awhile sucks away all my after work gym motivation!

  • We're in London.  I generally get in to work around 9am and leave 6-6:30pm, sometimes later and rarely earlier.  DH gets to work earlier than me 8-8:30am and usually leaves around the same time, but he'll also do work at home.

  • I don't work, but I have to be at school at 8. I leave around 7:30 and I'm home between 12 and 4.

DH works a weird shift schedule, on his morning shirt he has to be there at 6, he leaves about 5:45 and is home by 2. On his evening shift he has to be there at 2, leaves around 1:45 and is home around 10pm.

He's switching to normal hours of 8-5, but he said he'll probably be there later than 5 most days.

    We're in Switzerland.

  • In USA: we both have flexible schedules and we typically work from 9:30-10 until around 18:30-19:00.  Our commute is less than 15 minutes by bike.
