Do you have a "real" phone line?

I know a lot of people (myself included) have an internet phone (like Vonage, Google, or through the cable company), but do you have a "real" phone line where you plug the phone into the jack in the wall?  Do you know anyone that does? 

We had our siding replaced over the summer and there was a box on the outside of the house that was there from the phone company when the house was built in the 80's.  It is dangling there since the siding guys assumed we would get rid of it, and as far as I know we can clip it...

We don't - we just have our cell phones.  We had a land line before we got married in addition to our cells, and we never used it.

My husband and I each have our cell phones which is our only telephone communication.  BUT, I have been thinking about a landline since Verizon's reception at our apartment since moving has been awful! It consistently drops calls and people complain about the connection.  I don't know if we will spring for it, since cell phones are expensive enough, but this is the type of situation where I can see it being necessary.

We have a land line, and only because with our cable/internet package, without phone would be the same (actually a few $$ more) without the phone. So we have it for emergencies (which I will say was an absolute LIFESAVER when the earthquake hit here in DC and no cell phones were working. I was able to get a hold of my mom and let them know I was OK). That incident alone ensured we would always have one, especially when living in this area when you never know what may happen.

We have one because we have a security system through Timewarner and it's required. Since my husband is switching jobs and will now be working from home we also just switched it to the business phone package. I have no idea what the number is.
