My husband and I are currently searching for a home. Our biggest must-have is to have a big yard where we can put in a fence for our golden retriever to run around in. I personally do not want an electric fence, because we have many siblings who have a dog and we?d like to invite their dog over as well to play with our dog.
We just found the perfect dream house of ours with a complicated yard. The house sits on 1.5 acre lot with the front yard being level and the backyard being really sloped. Will it be possible to build a sturdy and reliable fence in the backyard? This question may be a no brainer to you, but I never had a fence growing up and neither did my husband. Any advice or opinion will be appreciated.
Re: Building a fence
Thanks for the suggestion! I don't know where to begin looking. Did you build a fence through home depot/lowe's or a private company? What's the estimate cost to build a fence for say half acre lot?
We had our contractor do it - selected nice redwood and they did an amazing job. It depends on the materials you use and where you live. We wanted redwood - which right now is really expensive
The biggest challenge you'll face is that you'll have to really dig down and plant the cement to hold the posts for the sloped land. I would get some quotes. Most times you can get a free estimate. I've heard mixed review on the HD / Lowes install people. I am glad I had a private company do ours. Get some quotes and see what will work best for you. Best of luck!
This ours (not the highest quality photo - working on taking nice pics when all of our projects are done!)
