Randomness - kid Q

Are there any bad habits your kids picked up from you, that you wish they didn't? Or is there anything you're worried they will pick up from you?

This is totally random, but I am just thinking - I don't want my kids to bite their nails, for example, so I have to make sure I stop so they won't see me doing it and pick it up from me. DH often teases me about things I do and says "do you want our kids to do that?"

Just wondering if anyone had this experience...

Re: Randomness - kid Q

  • No kids yet but I definitely don't want my kids picking up my habit of cracking knuckles and joints.  I picked it up from my 2nd grade teacher (I thought she was beautiful and cool and wanted to be like her).  Now it's just a noisy habit that grosses people out.

  • Speaking Spanglish. I am so very, very ashamed that DD has picked this up from me. I promise to myself that when we get to France in January, I will not fall into speaking Franglais or Fra?ol.

  • Being able to concentrate.  I'm so ADD, I can't sit still and finish a project.  I either go full steam or I'm a rock.  As I type I have 5 browsers open and texting...and I came up to the office to organize paperwork LOL!

  • I bite my nails. I try not to ever do it in front of the kids and I have stopped for about 75% of the time I've had them but every now and then I fall off the wagon. Bruce bites his nails, but he's clearly got a big oral fixation becuase its not just his nails he bites. He bites all toys and silverware and straws. He'll bite his toenails and last winter when his nails were all too short to bite he started to bite the back of his hand. We had to give him benadryl to stop it itching and put medicine on the backs of them becuse they were so raw. It was bad... he's gotten better over the summer and I'm really hoping it doesn't come back again this winter.

He's definitely got my mouth, too. He was playing on disneygo.com the other day and must have clicked into the wrong screen and I heard "grrr. I can't get this frickin thing to go away!" opps...

  • DH bites nails and I am worried the kids will pick it up from him.

I hope they don't pick up the way I slouch in front of the computer/TV, I really have to pay more attention...
