Nuvaring?

Hey ladies,

I'm currently taking Beyaz and I'm just not loving it, not to mention I'm one of those lucky women who is NEVER sexually attracted to my FI anymore. He knows that this pill is the reason and isn't offended or anything so it's not a big problem, just annoying. I'm really considering going back to the nuvaring after having my IUD taken out (horrible side effects), and this pill makes me sick all the time. What do you ladies that have nuvaring think? Also, I don't have insurance and was wondering if anyone that didn't have insurance are charged. Thanks ladies!

Re: Nuvaring?

  • I LOVE my NuvaRing! It is so nice to not have to take a freaking pill everyday! I believe without insurance they are about $90 per month. But I believe the beyaz is expensive too.

  • I've been on Nuvaring for 4 days and so far so good I dont feel sick like on the pill its a lower dose of hormones, so hopefully it works out. I dont have insurance but I go to a special womens clinic that has birth control at a lower rate and it costs me $10 a month.

  • I was very happy with my Nuvaring. No side effects.  It took a while getting used to having to put it in and take it out, b/c it's not like you can really just, um, set it in there. You kinda gotta go in deep so it stays up there.

Just be careful after sex. One time after sex, H was making the bed while I was in the bathroom and he called out 'um, honey, what does your ring look like?!' It was definately in the sheets. And had he not seen it, I wouldn't have known it was gone. You can cake it out for sex, but within 3 hours it needs to be put back in otherwise it's like skipping a day of birth control. So just make sure it's still in there after sex. It only happened once though in over a year of being on it.

  • I absolutley hated it.  Used it for 3 months.  Felt so uncomfortable.  Wouldn't stay in.  I could feel it all the time.  Not to mention my friend got prego while on it.  I am not using anything now and I am very happy about my decision.  No wierd side effects, no discomort.  I like how my body feels without extra hormones.  I like feeling attracted to my bf again.  We use condoms now.  Not a big deal.
  • I absolutely hated my nuvaring, it hurt so bad to put it in and take it out. It gave me horrible mood swings too. But I mean, birth control treats everyone different! I just know that I will never go back to the nuvaring again!

  • The Nuvaring seems to be something you either love or hate. I have used it for probably 5 years now and love it. It would be worth a shot for you to try! Although pretty expensive. Hopefully like pp said you could find a low cost womens health clinic and get it cheaper there!
  • I didn't like it because my H could feel it sometimes. I got tired of checking if it was still in there. I got MIrena. I love it. No periods since spotting the foist month. An no worries.
  • I love mine. Sometimes by BF can feel it and I have to take it out, but its not big deal as long as i remember to put it back in!
  • I love it.  I never had any problems on any BC though.  I just like the convenience.  NO WAY could I remember to take a pill daily.

It does take getting used to putting it in.

It is noticeable for my BF but not in a bad way.  We had sex once the day before I was scheduled to put a new one in (right after my period ended) and he was like, um...where's your nuvaring?!  LOL  I put it in tomorrow morning, honey.  Not trying to pull something on you!

  • I like the NuvaRing...but I personally have ZERO sex drive on it...but on the positive side it cleared my acne Wink

The lack of being able to orgasm and lack of desire for sex and the weight gain and feeling absolutely CRAZY on it was enough for me to stop it...

  • I like mine. I've been using it for almost 4 years now. I started anti-depressants shortly afterwards so I don't know which is causing low sex drive and minor weigh gain as those are side effects of both. If you don't put it up far enough, you can feel it, and a little water based lube really helps with putting it in. My husband has no complaints about being able to feel it either.

With insurance, it's $30 a month. Without, it's $90. But I think you can get it at planned parenthood for $50.

  • I was on it and loved it for like 2 years or so.  Then I started to have pain during sex and felt like it wanted to attach to me...or something weird.  That's when I think I started to have pain during sex.  That was like in 2002-2004.  I have switched birth controls and have not really found anything I like anymore...seriously effecting the sex drive.  I kind of blame nuva-ring.  My new gyno wants me to go back on nuva-ring, she says that it might have changed.  I don't want to go on it again and am contemplating going off bc....but I have terrible periods....that is why I went on it.
