iCloud

So, in order for my iPhone to sync wirelessly with my Mac (via iCloud), I have to have Lion on my Mac?  And in order to even get Lion, I have to get Snow Leopard?  Each of which cost $30?  Am I understanding this correctly?  My Mac is currently using version 10.5.8.  Help? I was so excited, but it wasn't as easy as updating my iPhone...

Re: iCloud

  • You can use it on your PC so I'm not sure why us Mac users would need to pay to upgrade our computers to use it.

I'm waiting for my iTunes to finish downloading the update of iOS5.

Did you already get yours? If so, are you liking the changes?

I look forward to iMessage the most but then next the camera button on the lock screen.

  • Okay, their website says this:

    1. Make sure your Mac is running the latest version of OS X Lion.

So, it sounds like you might need to.

I'd call your nearest Apple Store and speak with a representative to get a straight, easy answer.

  • Its true that you have to put OS Lion on your Mac to use iCloud, but i dont think that you need to upgrade your OS twice. I think you have to buy only OS Lion for your Mac.
  • That is correct.  I just had to do the same thing.  You CANNOT go directly from Leopard to Lion.  (Or at least I couldn't find any way to other than maybe bit torrents.)  You have to do the Leopard --> Snow Leopard first.  Totally p'ed me off, too.

Eh.  That's annoying.  I will try calling to be sure.  So, currently, iCloud is inaccessible for me.  :(

I'm still figuring how to customize the settings to work for me.  I wish there was a way to specify WHICH email account I want to show up on the banners or whatever.  Also, I don't get how to use the new camera feature.

For the camera, when your phone is locked you will double click your home button. The button to access your camera will be on the home screen.
