King Tut Exhibit at MFAH

Anyone planning on going?

Since we have been to Egypt, I am guessing most of the exhibit will be repeats for me, but it will be nice to see it presented well.  I am going to have DH take off work early one afternoon to check it out since I assume the weekend crowds will be bad.  Our neighborhood has pop-up parking lots all over it for MFAH, I guess they are renting empty lots wherever they can since the parking garage is going to have a $20 fee.  I am excited for the exhibit, but not excited for the traffic over the coming months, especially at F's school.  Guess it encourages me to walk.

Re: King Tut Exhibit at MFAH

  • Yep, my dad's company (Apache) is underwriting the exhibit so we're going to a preview night.  We've been to Egypt too and we've likely seen everything that's going to be there, but it's amazing and I can't wait to see it again! Good luck with the neighborhood traffic!
  • I REALLY want to go but it will depend on our schedule.  Not sure when my next free day will be.

  • We're going.  It will probably be after the first of the year due to a million other things going on, but I do want to go.
  • I am very excited about this exhibit and we will. Def be going at some point in time.
  • Assuming it hasn't changed much, I saw it YEARS ago in New Orleans.  Not that I remember much of it though because I"m pretty sure I was in elementary school.

I will also wait it dies down, but I hope that doesn't take too long because as members we like to get over there  regularly for the "less exciting" exhibits.

I was wondering if it was the same exhibit I saw in Dallas years ago.  My mom took us to see a ton of museum things, but this one is the one I remember most.  It planted a very strong desire to visit Egypt in me.  I'd love to go see it again.

  • I really want to go, but will probably wait a couple of months for the crowds to die down.  I absolutely loved the Egyptian Collection at Hermitage in St. Petersburg, Russia.  It was one of the largest collections I've ever seen.  It made me want visit Egypt, but DH has no desire.  I guess I need to plan a trip without him.
