What would a nestie do?
We had family pictures scheduled this morning with a non-nestie photographer (she was recommended through a friend). She didn't show up. I called, left a message, she called back a couple hours later, I let it go to voicemail. She said that she missed the appointment, that she's never done that before and she would give us a discount on our session.
Should I call back and reschedule?
Re: WWND?
I think if she is going to do it discounted, it needs to be deeply discounted as in free. You took off work, etc. Also, she should do it around your schedule not when she has the next available opening. If she can't do these two, find someone else.
Did she give you a reason?
She said that she missed it or something like that.
We did take off work, but also because we don't have daycare this week.
And yes, it is a lot of work to get 3 people plus yourself ready. I put makeup on even. I never wear makeup.
This!
She needs to give a better reason than just missed it. I mean you probably sat at the place forever wondering if she was going to show up!
Call her, hear her out and then decide.
Obviously I am trying to see this from the photog's POV, but she could have just overslept. Is it ideal? No. Does it happen? Yes, to all of us. Or she could have set her alarm for PM instead of AM. Or she could have written the wrong date on her calendar - I don't know. I'm just trying to give her the benefit of the doubt. It totally (totally!) stinks, but accidents/things happen.
That said, if I were the photographer, I'd do the shoot for free (did you give her a deposit? I'd give that back, too.) and just charge for any resulting products the client may order.
I agree with what Jennie said.
I'd be pissed as hell too, but sh*t happens. She should be doing the shoot for free, though.
That said, I probably wouldnt reschedule with her. She's unorganized, at the least.
I agree with above that she should do it for free. However, being a photog is like any other job. People over sleep, forget to do things at work etc. I'm not saying it is OK, but it does happen. I would call her and see how apologetic she is on the phone.
Also, did she touch base with you in the few days prior to the shoot? I would think she would have confirmed the appt. But maybe not.
