Places to eat in Bham

Hey ladies. DH's birthday is Saturday. We are going to Bham to the Museum of Art to see some of Da Vinci's drawings with some friends. I would like for us to go somewhere nice for dinner. It doesn't need to be super fancy and it will need to accommdate a party of 7. Any suggestions?

Re: Places to eat in Bham

  • One of my all-time favorites is Jim n Nicks - it's a BBQ restaurant, but they have everything.  It is all delicious, and I rarely even order barbeque.

The Fish Market is one of the best seafood restaurants there, IMO.  It's definitely not fancy at alll though.

    There's always Surin!  Great Thai!

  • 26 is fun--I have also heard that Ocean is good, but just never been.

    Check out www.birminghammenus.com

It is a great website and you can check out restaurants by location and also see their menus/prices!

  • Those are just some options downtown... there are plenty of others if you don't mind driving further.  By the Galleria, I like J. Alexander's and California Pizza Kitchen.  At the Summit, there is a Cheesecake Factory, a pizza kitchen, PF Changs, Village Tavern.... all are good!

  • Thanks. I thought about going out to the Summit, but it seems like we always eat there when we are in town. I was hoping to try something new. I will check out that website.

  • I was going to suggest Surin as well.  You could also go to Red Lobster, there is one on Hwy 31 in Vestavia.  Other places that I love is Firebirds which is in the Patton Creek shopping center across from the Galleria.  Also Michael's Steakhouse and Olive Garden are both next to the Galleria.
    Siggy coming soon....
  • I love Ocean too, but it's pricey.

Hot & Hot is super awesome too.

    Surin is great Thai!

  • rojo is good....a little casual...but yum! and lots of beer.... :) for the guys
  • The Fish Market is wonderful!!!! I love it. We go everytime we go to Bham! It's not to fancy like pp said!

  • Ditto Firebird's at the Galleria/Patton Creek, as well as Surin, J. Alexander, 26, and Ocean, which are all places that HSV doesn't have. Oh wait, aside from Surin.  Also, I LOVE Table and La Paz in Mountain Brook/Crestwood.  Table is really cool, but kinda intimate for 7 ppl...

  • I love Lakeview Oyster House, DH loves Highlands. Daniel George is great and fancy but pricey.
