My family has a tradition that we buy 2 $50 presents and 1 $25 present for 3 adults in the family. It just got so expensive over time as people married and stuff that now we pick names.
I have to provide a list of many items I'm interested in so people have choices and can't think of much this year.
What are you asking for this year?
Re: $50 Christmas presents
I would love a gift card to Amazon.com to buy books. I know some people hate giving gift cards, so I suppose you could provide a reading list so they could buy and wrap something.
Do you use an iPod? iTunes gift card.
Do you like going to adult education classes? Sometimes a hobby class that runs for a few weeks cost under $50.
This is out of the box gift giving, but you could always ask someone to make a donation in your name to an organization.
No ideas from me, but my sister keeps a running list in the laundry room - her wish list. When she thinks of something she wants or needs, she puts it on the list. So when her DH or someone else asks what she wants, she has a list going.
I also keep a running list and a wish list on Amazon.
Does it have to be 3 individual gifts for that amount? Could they not say - get you a few makeup items or clothing items and wrap them in the same box?
For my family I try to give married couples one joint gift and give them each an individual gift.
I also keep a running birthday/christmas/anniversary (November/December for me...) on Amazon.com.
I scoured the anthropologie, urban outfitters, and west elm sale/clearance area for quite a couple of things under $25. Mostly they are books, shirts, small decorative items, pillowcases, plates, etc... I have some jewelry pieces for etsy, I have some dior mascara and some other small beuty products from sephora.
For the higher $50 range more of the previous plus some clothes from shopruche.com, clothes from gap.com, some perfume, a couple of different types of TOMS, some vera bradley stuff... that mostly covers my $50 and under category!
I have a few things that would be in that price range.
Bath & Body Works shampoos
Hair dryer
big throw blanket
Walking shoes
Zumba for the Wii
BBQ smoker
