Re: planning a visit & need ideas!

  • How long will you be here?  Are you staying down on the Riverwalk?

We just moved here last month, but I have done the RW before.   It is awesome around the holidays for the boat tour/lights.  Even if the lights are not yet lit up, the boat tour is a great way to get a tour and some history of downtown  There are great restuarants, bars, etc down there.  The Alamo, Mission Trail and lots of historical sites too.  Also if you have time and a car, I would recommend a trip out to Fredricksburg.  A neat little town and a glimpse of the famous Hill Country.   We have relied on our GPS and YELP since we have been here and Yelp has had so many great reviews especially for dining (great food and service) and has been so awesome.

What type of things are you interested in?  For shopping:  The Quarry, The Rim and La Cantera.    I think it really depends on how long and where you are staying, what all you can fit in.  Have fun!
