Hi Ladies.
I'm going to be in Lexington on Friday and I was looking for a nice place to have dinner. When I looked on my hotels website, Applebees was one of the top recommendations... I'm not an Applebees kind of guy... I love local restaurants. I'm open to just about any type of food. One place I did find on Yelp was Masala, which seems to be right across the street from my hotel. Anyone have any recommendations?
I'm going to arrive late in the afternoon, so i might not have an opportunity to see very much around the city, but if you do have some fun suggestions for something I could see rather quickly, that would also be awesome! I hate going to a city and not being able to see anything.
Thanks so much for any suggestions!
Re: Boston Nestie visiting Lexington.
I can always come up with a list of places for other people, but my husband and I can never come up with something ourselves!
I think I can picture where Masala's is. It's likely across a major road from your hotel, so I wouldn't plan on walking. There's also a Malone's in that area, which is an upscale steakhouse.
Other local places I love include Joe Bologna's (pizza/Italian), Pazzo's (pizza and beer pub), Cheapside, Saul Good, DeSha's, Sawyer's (all American)...
Most of those places are downtown, so it's also near nightlife and such if you're interested in that. Depending on how long you're in town, you should head out to Keeneland. It's doesn't get more "Lexington, KY" than that!
My Bio
I like the food at masala. Indian is one of my favorites. It sounds like you are going to be staying near beaumont center. There are some restaurants in that shopping center besides masala as well, but I can't think of them right now. I love Joe Balogna's. They have great food. It is downtown though. There are lots of places downtown to check out, but I don't go there often so I can't give any personal recommendations. If you go away from lexington on the main road you will pass I think it is Murray's and a little farther is ramsey's I've heard both are good. There is also Parkette. http://www.theparkette.com/
As for things to check out, I am not sure their either. Keeneland is a classic, as is the horse park. There is also "The Castle" http://thecastlepost.com/
There are also a lot of historic sites. Waveland, Ashland, Mary Todd Lincoln House.
I've always been a fan of Alfalfa's. Their menu is seasonal so the options change fairly often.
Charlie Brown's is also fun. The food is perfectly average but the atmosphere is pretty neat.
