I've been replaced

I have been working part time at the doctors office since September 1st. My cousin was working with me and got me the job. She called me on Wednesday morning to tell me that she had quit and that I would be full time! I was really excited until Wednesday evening when she called back to tell me the doctor wanted an LPN in the office instead of me so I was let go. WTF? Just like that. At least I'll get two weeks severance pay but now I'm worried about income. I hit the pavement on Friday and dropped off 5 resumes around town at banks and another doctors office who was hiring. Being in a small town, there are only so many jobs to go around. I mean, I'll pump gas if I have to just to have money coming in but still, I can't help but feel blind sided by all of this. I'm worried about losing DS's daycare spot. Not because I can't afford it just because of my lack of employment. I was on a strict budget to be able to hit my savings goal to get back to the city within the next 6 months now that is shot.

On the bright side, maybe it will be a good opportunity to get back to the city and I've applied for several jobs there already. I'm just not sure what to do.

I guess this is more of a vent than anything...so thanks if you made it through.

  • Ugh, I'm so sorry.  That sucks that you're hopes were up and then got shot down!  I'm not sure how it works in Canada, but can you get unemployment?

Sending hugs and new job dust your way!

  • Thanks ladies, I'm trying not to get too down about it.

Haines-I am going to inquire about unemployment today.

It's too bad because I really enjoyed the job and liked going to work every day. On to bigger and better things I hope!
