I haven't started this season yet, but I have read that Annie and Liam breakup after he asks her to marry him. WHY?!? Fill me in please.

He randomly showed up and proposed on the spot, after having been away all summer and not contacting her. She said no because she was taken off guard. She then finds herself attracted to a guy at school and when Liam proposes again, she said no again. When she rethinks it and tries to go back to him, she finds him with someone else.
That's basically all there is to it without revealing more.
This wouldn't be how I'd explain it exactly.
She told him that she needs him to be honest with her and tell her what happened over the summer. He left angry.
When she goes back to him, it's not to say she wants to marry him, just that she loves him and wants to be with him. Turns out he met some other woman over the summer, fell for her when her husband died, and she is in town and Annie finds her with him. Awkward . . . so basically him proposing was a reaction to him not wanting to be attracted to his friend's widow. They end up having another conversation, he tells her he will always love her but he doesn't think things should be this hard and they keep hurting each other. She agrees but obviously is hurt. He picks the other girl over her.
Yes but the husband is still alive. He came back last week.

ETA: Annie is just going on dates with men for money at this point. Her inheritance money from the old actress lady hasn't come in yet because the family is challenging it, so she is low on cash.
And because the family is challenging it you just know that they are going to find out about the escorting and say see look she was just in it for the money. Which is going to suck.
