I have been thinking of switching Drs for Ella. I just don't love the office that we go to. I know that they see tons of patients and cannot be expected to remember details, but it seems like every time we are there they know nothing about Ella from previous apts. I have had to tell them every time I was there that I was pumping and supplimenting with formula (and they did ask every time). I also brought up constipation issues at her 9mo apt and they had nothing about it in her chart when I asked again at her 12 month.
Plus, when we were there for her 12 month apt they were running really behind. I get that happens sometimes, but we always wait a good 10-15 minutes anyway. Our appointment was at 2, they came and got us at about 210 and tried to do Ella's hearing check. When we finished with that they sent us back to the waiting room and we had to wait until 230 before the nurse took us t the room. When we finally saw the Dr the whole apt was really rushed and I forgot to ask questions because she just seemed like she was in such a hurry.
Also, when I brought up alternates for cows milk(because of the constipation) she told me to give her rice milk... which after doing research on my own seems to be the worst substitue when you compare fat/cal/protein.
I checked out the insurance page and there are no other Pedi's in town that are covered (which is the ONLY reason we went with them)... so I am considering switching her to a family doc instead. Just wondering if others see a fam doc instead of a pedi?
Re: ? for moms re: pedi vs fam doc
My kids see our family doc and I'm pretty happy with her... but she forgets details too. DD gets strep every year, and every year her dr suggests we see an ENT to have her tonsils evaluated. But we did all of that 4 years ago, the kid has no tonsils or adenoids and has had 2 sets of tubes LOL.
That's really the only issue I've had though, I like all of us seeing her.
