do you own a treadmill?

Hi ladies- I'm thinking about buying a treadmill for my house.  My new job's commute and hours are making getting to the gym more difficult.  

Does anyone own one?  What models are working for your house?  I'm thinking about something that is sturdy but not excessively large.  Any ideas (or know of anyone who is selling?)

My mom has one. It folds up, but it's still huge. I don't know what model it is, but she got it at Direct Buy. She loves having it. She uses it all the time and she's really glad she bought it.

I have a Nordictrak treadmill. It's a few years old. It's a fairly basic model, but it's sturdy and it does the job. I bought it from a neighbor who was selling it. I highly recommend trying to find a used one, because there are a ton of people who buy exercise equipment and then sell it in almost-new condition. Craigslist would probably be a good place to start. The only caveat about buying used is that you'll have to figure out how to transport it, unless you want to break it down and put it back together again. That was a challenge, but after we got it up the stairs and into our house, it's been great.

We got a new one at Sears last January, and we love it. I'm pretty sure it's this one:

It has great cushioning, has held up well to both DH and I running on it at least 4-6x/week, doesn't make a ton of noise, etc. We rationalized the expense b/c we cut our gym memberships.

I was told that if you plan on running on it (versus walking) and use it regularly, then prepare to spend at least $1K on a decent treadmill (or get one off CL for much less but is quality/worth $1K). Otherwise, you'll end up with one that isn't comfortable to run on and you won't use it or it won't hold up very well.

I wish I could sell you ours!!! We used to use it all the time, but in the past yearish (since Warner got really mobile) it's just been collecting dust and taking up a ton of space in our basement.

But, of course, DH won't hear of selling it.

oh well.

(I'm of no help, but this is a hot button issue for me right now, lol)

we have a folding one (that we don't usually fold unless we're trying to get cat toys out from underneath it). it has a nice large base so H can use it (he's tall). But, for the life of me I can't remember what brand it is. I'll have to check at home.

 

ETA: I think it's bowflex. we're happy with it as it has different programs, i like the fan function, etc. we've had it 3 yrs.

We bought a new Sole F85 earlier this summer when our free, crappy TM finally broke down after 3 years of use. I think we paid about 2 grand for it at Sears which included delivery and set up. It has great reviews online, and was a good fit for us - I run on it maybe once or twice a week, DH about once or twice a week, plus I use it for walking at least once a week. It will get much more use once winter comes in full force and it's way too cold to run outside. It is very sturdy, has a really wide base, has built in speakers and MP3 player input, fans, etc - we are very happy with it.
