Re: good morning. Can we discuss Occupy Wall Street?
If you have time here's there website: http://occupywallst.org/, you can learn all about them and their crusade lol.
I will keep all other comments to myself because I don't like to get political on the interwebs.
I honestly don't get the point of it all. It seems like people are out there for a million different reasons, with the only unifying theme that they aren't happy with the world the way it is. I get being p!ssed off about stuff and wanting to express your anger, but then what? There is no organization, no concrete ideas or proposals for change, and basically they're accomplishing nothing other than costing taxpayers a boatload of money for all of the police overtime, etc.
I consider myself to be a social liberal (with slightly more conservative leanings on the fiscal side of things) have been involved in plenty of protests in my day (okay, my day was mostly in college), but we always had a specific issue and concrete proposals to support or oppose. I'm also a pragmatist and understand that, short of a complete revolution like we've seen in other countries (no thank you!), these type of anger-fueled protests aren't going to change anything and actually serve to undercut and take attention away from the legitimate/concrete proposals for change that are out there.
And, that's my 2 cents.

this exactly! ive seen news interviews of the people on the street and half of them dont even know why they are there! they say the most ridiculous things. i'd bet they're going to stick around until they eventually get kicked out. i love how they are squatting in a PRIVATELY owned park! and calling it "liberty square." they got mad b/c the city wanted to kick them out for ONE DAY to clean it (at the request of the owners of the property) and called it an infringement of their civil liberties. it's private property people! speaking as someone who used to work on wall st, these people really piss me off. i assure you i was no fat cat sitting up on some high floor deciding the whims of the market with my moods. this whole 99% vs 1% thing is bs. truth is most of the people who work down there are at their desks by 7am and leaving long after 7pm. long gone are the days of 'bankers hours.' truth is most bankers work 80 hour work weeks. meanwhile these fools are playing drums and smoking pot on the street. when they are asked why arent you at work- their response is that wall street took away their jobs. really? wall street actually creates jobs. they blame the financial crisis of 2008 for all the evil in our society. too bad it was really the government who told the banks to give those loans. i think maybe they belong in washington instead. and if you take this business seriously, beware that if you donate to their website it is being used to bailout protestors who- quote "have run ins with the police."
