Gift Amount?

I just started a new job about 2 weeks ago, and a CW had a baby, so they're taking up a collection at work to get something for her.  What's a standard amount to give for something like this?  I don't know her well, since I'm still new, but I don't want to be a cheapskate!  Thanks!

Honestly it varies a lot. I've done anywhere from $5 to $20 depending on the suggested donation and what sort of cash I had on me at the time. I'd do $10 for now, though I'll be honest you really could skip it since you don't really know this person at all.

People here give anywhere fro $2 upward. Granted, we have onve 100 employees which is why they always suggest two. I give two for people I barely know and about $5 -10 for good friends.

People in my department generally do $5. I would always give something, so you build goodwill and look like a team player.

I was in a simliar situation in my current job--a baby shower for a CW and I had only been at the company about 4 weeks.  I asked another co-worker what was standard at this company because I didn't know this person, but I didn't want to look cheap.  She told me $5-$10 would be good and appropriate.

Thanks!  I ended up asking the woman collecting money, and she said anywhere from $2-$20, so I gave $5.
