Re: Fitness Check In: Role Call...

  • Today is a rest day, but I burned some calories mowing my lawn. I have really been loving running. Granted, I have been on the treadmill this whole time. But I can run a solid 2 miles without stopping now, I love it. I need to push myself harder though. My weight has leveled out and I am not seeing any other progress than going the 2 miles. My goal is to be able to run a 5k in less than 30 minutes.

  • I've was sick for about a week and then had to catch up at work so haven't been able to work out as much.  I've lost about 4 pounds.

I'm starting to run on the track at the base because it is getting to cold.  Unfortunately, I can only run about 3/4 of a mile outside without stopping, but when I first started, I could only run about a block (horrible).  I hate running in circles though, or on the treadmill, I feel so stuck in one place.  I also like stair climbing and try to alternate days that I run and do other stuff.

I'd like to fit in my clothes better, I guess that is the only goal I truly have.  If I set running goals, I get overwhelmed and stop.

  • Well I ate and drank my way through our predeployment cruise..:)  I just got back into the swing of things today with a run this morning.... I have officially started my half marathon training today and hope to continue getting back into the swing of things!!   I also just started my personal training class so hopefully that will help

  • I'll be joining in more in a few weeks. Today we walked halfway down the street and went to the pediatrician's office. I've also spent about 3 hours breastfeeding.

And I'm exhausted. I plan on throatpunching the next person who says they "did things the hard way" with their vaginal birth like my c-section is a walk through the park. It's rough, too!

But yeah, the workouts can commence in a few weeks as long as the doc OKs it.

  • I woke up early to go to the gym, but I couldn't find my vibrams. So I unpacked a lot of heavy books instead, and did a lot of stepping up on the step stool to put them away. That counts, right?!
I've seen a lot of military surprise homecomings. It wouldn't work on me. I always have my back to the corner and my face to the door. Looking for terrorists, criminals, various other threats, and husbands.
  • I did Couch to 5k Week 5, Day 1. I want to go again for a shorter run/walk when I get home but it'll depend on what time Man gets off work to pick me up.

I also had a co-worker tell me it was clear I had gained weight and she hadn't said anything but she was concerned there was "something going on." Last time she said that to someone that person was gaining because she was pg. Yeah, not me, I'm just eating too much.

  • I just got home from work but H and I are planning on taking the pups out for a nice long walk after dinner. Since it's getting colder here I'm losing motivation to walk outside. But we bought a treadmill over the weekend so I'm excited to keep up walking through the winter and maybe even feel motivated enough to tO start running. I'm also still playing volleyball twice a week with a rec team.

  • Hi.

We also ran two miles today. My friend and I are doing C25K together now that I'm allowed to run again. Slow and easy!

Seriously, who do you need throatpunching? I will help. I give credit to the ladies that have to get c-sections. That scares the ever loving daylights out of me.

Only if it made you sweat like a hosebeast. Wink

How do you like running with on the treadmill Vibrams? I am taking mine to the gym tomorrow for the first time. I don't know why, but I am shy wearing them at the gym.

Sad MIL said this to me once, it was mortifying. Her daughters are the picture of thin and fit though... I am just... soft, I guess.

Haha, thanks. It's my aunt, of all people. She was all "oh, yeah, I did things the hard way." I replied "Yeah, I have a 3-4 inch incision across my lower abdomen which renders bending, lifting, and sleeping pretty much impossible. Oh yeah, and I was awake when it all happened. Real easy."

She shut up pretty quickly. :)

  • Hola.

I've been out if it for about a week, but I'm back in it today.  Workout was some arms - bent over rows, lat pull downs, deadlifts, dumbbell curls, and preacher curls.

I've been loving lifting, and I feel awesome when I realize that I'm ready to add more weight.  It makes me feel proud and accomplished.

People stare, but I know they're just jealous of my sweet kicks. And I will never go back to running without them unless I have to.

I use my own plan of running 3 times a week.. I do 2 shorter runs during the week and then do my long runs on the weekend.  I probably could add another day in there but I dont...:P  I run slow and steady :)
