Is your large furniture strapped to the wall?

Here's a story about a friend of mine from high school (her husband also went to HS with us, was a year older).  Luckily hers has an inspiring ending, but wow. I can't imagine living with the guilt of something like this.  She almost lost her daughter.

the only thing that needs to be is. we have a large bookcase in our study (5' x 5') that is bolted to the wall.

Wow. Thank God that sweet little girl is okay. We have 2 shelves that DH bolted to the wall a while ago. Our dressers are all short and wide, but I'm for sure checking them tomorrow to see if they could tip.

My brother and sister in law had to secure the dresser in my nieces room to the wall after it fell on top of her. She opened one of the drawers, was standing on it when it tumbled over on top of her.  They heard it over the baby monitor(she was about 3 at the time). They ran into her room and my brother basicly threw the dresser off of her. It was a miracle she was not hurt. That night they secured it to the wall. The dresser was full of clothes and shoes. She was really small in weight when it happened. They were shocked that it tipped over on her.

I think the tall dresser in our bedroom would be the only thing that could tip over, but it would take work.  The rest of the furniture is long and short.  I worry more about him pulling the TV over on himself.

He's climbed the back of our bar-high chairs before and pulled them on top of himself.  They aren't heavy and we had carpet at the time, but I'm sure it still hurt!

Our tallest bookcase in the office, is - but I am betting none of DS's furniture is.    I should probably look into getting that done!

So scary, but a good reminder!  

I did a CT scan on a little boy a few years ago that was trying to pull himself up on a dresser, and the TV on top of the dresser fell on him.  He had similar head injuries to the little girl, but unfortunately, he did not have such a good outcome.  It is an image that I will never forget and I am so paranoid about that now.

When DD was small, I have larger stuff strapped to the wall.  But not now.  The only large piece of furniture that could possibly hurt her if it fell is the China Hutch.  Everything else is under waist high (besides the frige).
