Washtenaw county wants to cut funding to HSHV

Ugh.

Check out www.hshv.org for details.  It's all on the home page in the first section.

I volunteer here as a dog-walker, and I got one of my kittehs from here.

This makes me feel sick.

  • That makes me sad.  DH doesn't want me to volunteer at an animal shelter because he thinks I will get too attached to all the animals.  Which I know he right about Embarrassed

  • LoL!  Yeah, it can be dangerous that way!

I started volunteering because I really wanted a dog but couldn't have one because of my living arrangements.  It gives me my dog fix without actually needing to have a dog.  It's so fun to meet all the different dogs and learn how to work with them.  It's a fantastic way to help out the community!

This shelter won the award for best large shelter in Michigan last year.  They have an 81% save rate - the highest in Michigan.  The work they do is really amazing.  They are so open with the volunteers and public about what they do and how they do it, and they do an AMAZING job.

I'll get down off my soapbox.  But seriously - amazing.

That's awesome!  I'm happy you found such an awesome place to volunteer.  I have thought about volunteering at a shelter to walk dogs to get a dog fix too and also get more exercise for me.  I just know DH is right and we would end up with like 10 new animals.
