QOTD Wednesday (desserts - or, if not pumpkin pie, then what?)
Because there are so many pumpkin pie haters here, I have to ask: What is your favorite Thanksgiving dessert? (If it's pumpkin pie, that's fine, too.)
Re: QOTD Wednesday (desserts - or, if not pumpkin pie, then what?)
Second favorite would be pumpkin cheesecake.

Ditto on the pumpkin cheesecake, or my new fave apple caramel cheesecake, and of course my mom's delicious apple pie. Yum.
I wouldn't choose pie at a buffet of desserts....which thanksgiving kind of is!
my favorite thing now is a pumpkin gingerbread trifle i made last year. almost as easy as pumpkin pie (i buy the gingerbread from WF premade), but far more yum.
and apple or pear crisp is also good.
if i must have pie, pumpkin is a contender as is my grandmas' (and only my grandma's) pecan pie or strawberry rhubarb (this is probably my favorite pie with a pastry crust)
while I don't like it, I certainly appreciate that others do so I make the pumpkin pie. I also make pecan pie cupcakes (more like a muffin than a pie-- my family loves 'em!), chocolate chip cookies (I love 'em!), and last year I made these cherry pie turnover/calzone-y looking things that were a HUGE hit so they are now added to the repertoire. We also had s'mores snacks (take the marshmallow, dip it in melted chocolate, then dip it in graham cracker crumbs - also a HUGE hit). Honestly, I was in such a coma from so much cooking last year I can't remember all we had - just that the groaning board was indeed groaning!

Oh, so many options . . .
I mentioned in the holiday post that I love pumpkin bars. My friend makes this amazing chocolate velvet pie for our Fake Thanksgiving every year that is just amazing. Pumpkin cheesecake, or an apple crisp (my step-mom puts cheese on hers, which sounds weird but is actually really good), and anything with cranberry. I made this cranberry/caramel tart from Smitten Kitchen one time that was delish.

OH! I CHANGE MY ANSWER!!!!
Last year I also made MS's apple pie with a cheddar crust & it was off.the.hook. The crust was kind of like a cheese straw & the apple filling was sweet-tart. It's a pie I could get behind.

Of the dessert offerings we have, my faves are apple pie, or my grandma's coconut pie (my fave!).
Sometimes we also have a chocolate pie my grandma used to make, basically chocolate pudding and cool whip in a choc. cookie crust and then frozen. But that one is usually reserved for Christmas.
