I have a problem where I create a table setting in my head but then struggle to find the linens (mostly napkins) to create it. I'm shopping for two parties now and I'm going crazy looking in Pier One, BB&B, Target, WS, Sur la Table and every where else for just the right thing. Does anyone know of a good website what would have lots of patterns/colors/styles?
I can not sew but I'm thinking of just getting fabric and fraying the edges for cheap yet perfect napkins for a more rustic dinner party I'm having. For a shower, I'm having a tough time finding nice blush-colored ones.

Thinking of doing cosmetic updates to a dated home? These were our costs.
NewQueen- Dyeing could be an option. And I love HomeGoods for linens although I always end up being more inspired by the random stuff they have than finding what's in my head.
Tar- we're only talking 10 guests for one party and 4 for the other so it's not worth renting.
6-Actually, that's not a bad idea. I was planning to do white tablecloths than get the color/feel I want by using themed napkins/runner but maybe the inverse would yield better results. Or scrapping it and doing all neutrals with the theme colors brought in with flowers and other elements.

For some reason these came to mind when I read your post. I saw them in a magazine awhile back and thought they were really cool.

I've seen a lot in Marshall's/TJ Maxx.
There are also some options on the World Market website and Amazon.com.
Froogle.com is a helpful search engine for shopping.
I am totally in to the idea of these MyDrap napkins although I haven't tried them yet. They are a cross between a fabric and a paper so they are disposable but you can wash them and use them a few times. They come on a perforated roll and come in some lovely colors!

I also love the idea of using fabric and making your own, but I am a novice sewer as well. Can you get away with a pinking sheer edge? I know that would work best with a patterned fabric/sheet.
I often find that I have trouble finding the perfect fabric so if you have a patterned paper that you like, you can try to scan it and print it on to fabric. Check out this tutorial for printing on fabric: http://www.instructables.com/id/Inkjet-Printing-on-Fabric/
