through with work today (vent)

I work 8-5, but for the third time in the past five days I have a 4:30 call that's liable to run to 5:30 or 6.  I hate this.  I wanted time to help DH with bathtime for DD tonight.  I wanted to give DD a birthday present tonight when there's not the rush to get to daycare or the fuss of my parents arriving for her birthday weekend.  I'm taking off Friday and had to give up on taking Monday as well because my boss is giong to commit to delivering something on Monday.

It's bad enough that work is hectic, or that my personal life is hectic getting ready for DD's birthday, but I'm really pissed that they're both hectic at the same time and I'm not really getting time to do everything I need to do without a lot of extra stress.

Grr.

Anyone else have gripes to share?

Re: through with work today (vent)

  • I'm "over" my "work" today too, but in my case it's a teething 15 mon old that's throwing everything he comes across & refusing to take a nap.  plus, it's raining & we can't go out (or, rather, I don't want to deal with the muddy mess he'd be if we went outside).

i'm really sorry you're having a rough time.  it sucks when home & work are both stressful at the same time.  there really should be a law or something that would prohibit it!!

this kind of crap from a boss would result in my calling out sick on monday :P

work is crazy busy (annual meeting is fast approaching) and clients are still thinking they can get printed materials in time. um, no. your deadline was more than two weeks ago. my boss is super nice and actually saying no to clients right now (something my old boss in new york would never do) so i appreciate that a lot.

i could use a really stiff drink right about now.

  • Boo!  I'm sorry both are hectic at the same time.

  • I'm sorry. :(  Can you do the call on your drive home?

  • If it makes you feel any better, I just went to use our staff bathroom. Generally, a very neat and tidy operation and yet today I plunked myself down in a giant puddle of someone else's pee. I'll trade you your conference call for the pants I'm currently wearing. Or maybe we should give my pants to your boss?
  • sorry about your day. I can related to craptastic co-workers. my favorite is lunch conference calls. It is not like you can eat when you are supposed to be talking.

I just vented about my crappy doctor's appointment in a post above.

plus, I am irritated with Trader Joe's because I bought a pack of provolone cheese to go with the cheesesteaks I was making for dinner and the provolone package has swiss cheese inside. I hate swiss cheese. I think it is the only cheese I hate. Cheese-less cheesesteaks suck.

And, I made cheesesteaks because this week has totally sucked and I would love to amuse all of you with my tales of woe but I am paranoid. The stories are so ridiculous that everyone would laugh but it is probably best told over cookies or wine or both. Maybe we should have a bring your vents happy hour?
