Not CR but need help please!

I need a washing machine recommendation.  I have a feeling mine is about to blow.  To the point I told my daughter no doing laundry while I'm not home.  Making REALLY scary noises!  lol

So I'm torn.  I would prefer a front loading machine, but most are high efficiancy.  I don't want HE.  I have used them in the past and just don't feel like they get enough water to get the clothes clean.  So I want to be able to control the amount of water that goes into a load.  I have searched a few places, but comng up VERY short in the Non-HE area.

I am more than willing to go top load, but once again, I do NOT want HE.  Any suggestions??

(sorry to post this here, but my local and Cleaning boards are SO slow!!!)

Re: Not CR but need help please!

  • I have a basic Whirlpool top loading washing machine. I love it, picked it up at Costco with a hefty rebate. It has three size settings for the loads so use the amount of water you need. It takes 30 to 35 mins to run a load. Its an energy star appliance. /me shrugs

  • i actually wanted a front loader, but it was not in our budget. I have an off brand whirlpool (?) that we got @ depo. do you have any appliance outlets near by? I have a sears outlet near by, and they have a ton of significantly discounted machines (presumably floor models). as for the non-HE issue, i think only frontloaders are HE. But it's been like 3 years since I was looking @ washers, so don't hold me to that.

  • sadly, LOTS of top loaders are also.  and no good appliance stores in our town or about 5-6 hours away.  I think Minneapolis is the closest.  We are limited to Lowes, Menards (which doesnt' have squat), Sears and ONE local appliance store.
