POLL : What TV family did you want to be a part of?

Growing up....or even a current show, which TV family did you/do you dream of being a part of and why?

For me I wanted to be a Seaver.
I have no idea why.
I just thought they had a cool house and cool parents.
If Growing Pains shows up on instant view on Netflix I'm in trouble.

Re: POLL : What TV family did you want to be a part of?

  • This isn't a family, per se, but I did always want to be one of the girls who were attending Eastland in The Facts of Life. I was fascinated by boarding school when I was younger (I also loved the books The Girls of Canby Hall and wanted to be a part of that world), and that is part of the reason, I think, that I chose a college where I had to live in the dorms all four years.

  • Heck yes.

I always wanted to be at a boarding school because of that show.
Freedom. At least that's what it said to me ;-)
  • Not per se .... When Welcome Freshman and Salute Your Shorts was on I wanted to be in High School and go to summer camp though!
  • Obviously the Cosbys.  Who wouldn't want to be part of that family?

  • I immediately thought of the Cosbys too.

    Me too.

I always wanted a bunch of brothers and sisters.

Also- the Banks from Fresh Prince of Bel Air -although I would have fought with Ashley over who got Tevin Campbell. He was my boy crush at that age. Plus they were rich.

Me too. And thanks for posting the name of the series- I had been trying to find it by googling for a few years ( and I kept getting Sleepover Friends). I lost my copies of the books, but remember loving them growing up.

  • Definitely the Cosbys.

  • 7th Heaven. Sure dad is a little pretchy, but I liked the idea of a stay at home mom when I got home from school and having a bunch of siblings.

    Definitely the Cosbys.

first thing that popped into my head.  I loved their house and the parents seemed very down to earth.

  • I wanted to be a part of Full House...plus I loved how large DJ and Stephanie's room was, lol!

  • Cosbys - who wouldn't want to be part of a family where they regularly did lip sync numbers and your dad wears awesome sweaters

Gilmore Girls - that's just obvious, plus Lorelai's house is probably my favorite TV house ever

As an adult I'd love to be a Braverman.

For sure the Cosbys. Actually, we've recently started watching the Cosby Show again (netflix streaming), and I still want to be part of their family!

  • Cosbys, of course! Although I guess technically they were the Huxtables.

Family Ties - I loved the hippie parents lol

The Wonder Years - I know it wasn't all warm and fuzzy, but there was always a lot of love in the family and the whole show just felt so nostalgic and sweet, even though it took place well before my time.

I know it's recent and trendy, but I love the Dunphies on Modern Family. They seem "real", but they're still really close.

  • Then: 7th Heaven. It was such the opposite of my reality that it literally seemed like it would be heaven.

Now: the Parenthood family, the Bravermans... and DH's family is a lot like them, actually.

  • I would have LOVED to be a Gilmore Girl!
  • I always wanted to be a Tanner on Full House

  • I wanted to be Angela Bowers daughter on Who's the Boss- I always thought she was so cool, and that she really needed a daughter, I also thought Mona would be such a cool grandma- and who wouldn't want Tony to be their housekeeper.

Now I would love to be  a Kardashian- as crazy as they are I think they have a good family bond- and they really are all about family- I also think it would be fun to have a lot of sisters that I was close to, and I LOVE Bruce!

  • The Cosby's were who popped into my head first.  I loved the parents on that show.  At times I wanted to be a Tanner (Full House) as well.  They always had something entertaining going on.
  • ditto cosby's and facts of life. and I do want to live in star's hollow.

but big ditto to the Keatons! I was so thrilled when I was a kid and saw that we had the same juice glasses they did on the show. Dont' know why that's still in my head.

  • I'm kind of surprised at all the Full House votes - it was always so sad when they talked about their mom!
