Re: TGIF!!

  • The girls didn't have daycare together, so I am home with them. I was going to take them and find something fun to do with them, but Allison's got a cold now and is coughing a bit and I have a sore throat, so I think we will hang low today.  I wish the library by my house was open as we got a book on hold.

Tomorrow is apple orchard day for us.  It is also our 6th Annv., so we are going to go out to dinner. I still have to get him a card and put together his gift.

On Sunday, TH is going to a freinds house to watch the Lions so I have to think of something to do with the girls.

  • I'm definitely ready for the weekend, and I'm glad we don't have any real plans!  Last weekend we had a wedding that Nick was in so there were all kinds of shenanigans.  I'm hoping to hang out with Nick and baby Renee tomorrow morning over bacon, eggs, and coffee.  I also hope to get to Striders to get a really nice supportive running bra tomorrow.  I want to get back to running!

  • Happy 6th Annv.! DH & I still have yet to get something for our 2nd Annv from last month. I have a feeling that a few blankets will be coming home soon to go with the cotton theme.

Sorry the wee-one is getting sick and your throat is sore. Lots of tea for you.

I have no idea's for any Sunday activities for ya.

  • Good morning!

We don't have any plans this weekend besides continuing to get organized, catch up on laundry, cleaning the house, and other fun things like that.  Also, I'd like to start sorting through all of our photos.

  • Wop - Amelia just saw R's picture in your siggy and said "A baby. Mom is that Allison baby or Mia baby."  I told that it wasn't her picture, that it was baby R. She said "That is a cute baby!"
  • We have a wellness program at work for which we're required to track our work-outs on a "fitness calendar".  My entries are almost always either yoga or cycling.

In catching up from the last couple of weeks, I added "surfing" as one of my work-outs, which kind of made me laugh.

I took surf lessons, y'all!  Big Smile

  • Kids saying cute things. Love it!

Surfing lesson. Sweeet!! How did you like it?

Surfing lesson. Sweeet!! How did you like it?

It was great!  Easier that I thought it would be, actually.  We were in a group lesson with one other couple.  All four of us were able to get up on our first waves.  Staying up was more of a problem for me though, as I had a more difficult time staying balanced once I was up.  I crashed back into the water pretty good on several occassions.  My husband was a natural though, and he did great.  We both had fun, though.  But we were worn out afterward!  And I was pretty bruised up from my crashes and the surf board banging against me in the waves.

But it was a great experience!  I'd definitely recommend it.

  • This weekend, Henry will have 2 birthday partys (my side tomorrow, and Jim's Sunday).  My family and I agreed that every 18 months they come here for a birthday party.  They were all here last for Willa's 4th bday.  I'm really excited to have them!

There's a lot I should be doing right now, but yesterday I fell down our porch steps.  I have 4 bruises across the back of my body: one for each step I landed on.  Oh, the pain.  I'm sure it was a sight: I slipped, empty cans of broth went flying, I fell, and then sat there assessing for a minute.

  • Oh, ouch!, GRSP!  That sounds really painful.  It's "just" bruises though, right?  No back injury?  Hope you feel better soon.

And good luck with the party prep!

Baby is so cute. I just noticed that your ticker has an elephant and baby has an elephant on her pic. Too cute.

  • GVSU, I'm sorry you guys are under the weather.  I hope all 3 of you get some rest, and feel better this afternoon.

Kasa, I love the addition of surfing to your record.  Maybe include volcano hiking too?

Oh goodness - not good! I am with Kasa in being worried about a back injury. Take it easy for a while...

This is so beyond cool. I love that you did this.

  • Kasa - That is so cool!!

Here's a pic of the brown hair - sort of.  G saw me sitting down and decided to come make a cameo appearance.

Everything seems to be in working order.  I can bend and twist fine. The ouch is pretty much in the muscles.

I kind of wish I had video of the fall.  I'm sure it was better than these: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E3yOnr2cl3c

Thanks.  I feel old and creaky today.  And worried about the stairs.  We need to get some rubber threads, I think.  I'd hate for anyone else to fall.

Juli, I like the hair!  The light brown looks great on you.  Hi G.

  • Haha, G photobombed you, Juli!  What a prankster.

    The brown hair looks great!

  • U just ran a few errands in Walker and darn near cried 3x because of all the flags and signs for today's funeral for Off. Slot.

On the bright side I'll be started the last of the Hunger Games book tonight.

Very cool! Impressive that you got up on the first wave!

Juli - Cute hair and dog!

Hope everyone with aches, pains and colds feel better soon. I am heading out of town with my sisters and mom this weekend. We're hitting some outlets and a casino. I don't really like to gamble. Slots take my money way too fast and tables make me feel stressed out. They move a little faster than I like. We'll see how I do! I am mostly just looking forward to eating, drinking and shopping.

This is exactly how I feel about gambling and why I don't do it.  I hope you have fun, regardless, though!

  • Thanks guys!

GL Hoek - I totally feel intimidated by tables too - hopefully you find something fun and win big money.

  • I just made fudge brownies with salted caramel topping for Mike to bring to a family get together that I am missing this Sunday. I have never made these before and am antsy to see how they are. Would it be completely tacky to sneak a tiny bit as a test to make sure they turned out?

No, not tacky.  You must sample them and report back.

Actually, I would cut them up and put them on a tray.  And then no one will notice that one or two or 10 are missing because I ate them.

    Uh. They are good.

    Really good.

As in, "How the frick am I going to keep myself from eating the whole pan?" good.  And I only used a box mix for the brownie. Anyone who likes salted caramel should make this recipe!

  • Willa's first school pictures came back.  They are delightfully not great.  She has the weirdest fake smile, but they took it too soon, so it's only 1/2 of a fake smile, and the left 1/2 is still catching up.  Hee hee!
