MIL birthday tomorrow! Please help with ideas :)

Hi ladies! It is my MIL's birthday tomorrow (I think 52nd) and she is such a hard lady to shop for/plan things with. She says, "what birthday?" when you ask her what she wants to do! She takes care of her elderly parents in her home- 3 meals a day, bathes them, changes them, the works! She is a teacher and still has 3 kids living at home. DH's sister recently announced (even though she's not engaged) that she'd be getting married next year out of state and MIL is crushed. I just want to do something nice for her tomorrow! I thought DH and I could come over & make dinner, and then stay with his grandparents so his parents can go out somewhere. There really isn't anything she "needs" because she would just buy it herself, so it's hard to gift give sometimes. Any ideas or stories of what you've done would be helpful :) Thank you!

  • I think what you've suggested sounds perfect and you are a very sweet DIL. You might get a gift certificate for a massage or manicure or something as well.
  • I think that you have a great idea going.  Instead of making dinner, what if you and DH order pizza or take out for those who stay home and get your MIL and FIL a gift certificate to a nice restaurant that same night?
  • I agree with Gator.  Get them a gc for a restaurant or the movies.  Then take care of the home so they can get out.  Nice idea.
