I have a blog. It is semi-private in that anyone can view it who has the address, but it is not visible by search engines.
I use statcounter.com so I can see who is visiting my blog. I recently began noticing that I was occassionally getting referrals from a site called dongo.org. Most visiters to my blog from this referral source are in Europe.
DON'T VISIT dongo.org because I find it highly questionable and I would want you to be harmed by it.
That said, I have visited the site and found that it includes a very long list of random blogs. Further research (thanks, google) has found that it's basically a site for scammers to find blogs. I'm not entirely sure the scammers purpose with the blogs, although this might explain how my gmail account was hacked last month (I use blogger linked to my gmail account). Additionally, I found one random blog post about this site in which the author claims that images from her blog were stolen from users of this website.
I don't know that any of my images have been stolen, or that anything else has happened as a result of this listing. But the potential has freaked me out!
What do I do?! Any idea? Is my only option to make my blog totally private?
Re: Blog help, opinions, thoughts.
Can you disable right-clicking on your blog so no one can C&P your pictures? Is that your main source of concern? I know of some other blogs that have right clicking disabled, but don't know how to do it.
Also, can you make your gmail password more secure--include a number, both lower and upper case letters and a special character? A more complex password should make it harder to hack.
My gmail password is more secure now than it previously was when it was hacked.
I hadn't heard or the right clicking thing. I'll check that out.
In addition to the one I originally posted about, I've since discovered a couple of other privacy issues that I wasn't previously aware of. So, I'm thinking seriously about just making it private.
No, it's not a blogger problem. Content on my blog has been shared in a public manner. For instance, a random blogger in California is now linking to my blog. I could just ask her to stop, but I've been thinking that if it's that important to me that the general public not view my stuff, than I should just make it private, you know?
